Do they only post here on Vital? Or do they actually ride their 2 strokes in a secret location? Or is it just a Cali thing?

I don’t see many 2 stroke's on the track's around here in Ontario, at the tracks we run anyway (except for the 85's), so I figured with all the 2 stroke talk that takes place on here, I might be surrounded by them down south.

Well I just did a sweep of a whole bunch of tracks in Florida and Georgia over the last 2 weeks and all I saw was a shit load of 4 strokes, 250F's and 450F's from every brand, mostly Red and Green and allot of them were 2011 models!!
Bike sales can't be THAT bad...there are a shit load of new bikes out there.

I did see a young rider on a CR125 with his dad, who looked like he was just moving up from an 85, and I saw a vet rider on a 250, oh and a pretty quick kid on a ktm 144 that stayed together for the entire day, I was very surprised about that!
But other than that, I think the only 2 strokes I saw were 85's.

Not around here either.

I think they talk more than they ride.

Maybe they can't find parts for em.

Lots of 2 strokes out in alberta

I have noticed alot more YZ's and RM's coming out of the garages and showing up at the tracks this year.

People tires of shelling out big bucks on a 250f just to spend bigger bucks rebuilding it

Boring, why try to stir up something that's been beat into the ground enough anyway.

Don't lump me into the same category with that tool! :D

He only represents one area of Ontario. In my part of the province there are more and more 2 strokes showing up. And at many of the tracks that our guys race at in Minnesota's d23 the same is true. People are indeed catching on to the fact that 2 strokes are way way cheaper to race and maintain. They may be dead in most peoples eyes, but you can't argue the fact that its much more affordable for a racer to ride a 2 stroke. No one can debate that successfully.

There can't be a ton of 2-strokes at all these alleged tracks you observe, if there aren't a ton of 2-strokes to be ridden. You'll see a shit ton of 250F's and 450F's at the race course because there's a shit ton of 250F's and 450F's being sold at the dealers. You have a bright future in the culinary industry, what with stirring all these pots and all.

favorite moment of last weekend, me and my dad pull up to a local track opening day this year, there's 40 or more guys out there all on 4 strokes, not a single 2 stroke. they all get stopped at the top of a big tabletop like 30 ft from our truck while they groom out a couple ruts, and my dad proceeds to start his cr 250, which hasn't been started in 4 months. It overrevs super loud (cuz of the choke/old gas) for about 5 seconds, and EVERYONE stops and looks over at us like WTF IS THAT THING? haha then i start up my 125, annnd every looks at us like we're crazy. but really.. i agree, i see like maybe 4 or 5 2 strokes out at the local tracks here, and probably 80% of the people are on 4 strokes. I would be too, if I had the money!

Yeah, but in Canada they use those 4-strokes because half the time they are on the track, the other half the time they are fitted with a rototiller for working the garden. 2-strokes aren't nearly as good for tilling.

I just bought an 06 CR125 a few weeks ago for $1300, took it out to Thundercross for some playtime. There were 6 or 7 2 strokes out practicing. Great bike for the money and quite fast for what I want to do, which is embarrass 450's. Either way its a good time. Smile

Sweet bike!

The past 5 weeks at my local track there has been nothing but 250 two strokes and the occasional 250f or 450.

I bet you don't see that many 4 strokes either on the tracks in Ontario these days...

There's a good mix of smokers and thumpers here in the Portland area. I see more smokers on the trails and more porkers on the track, but its not a hugely lopsided count.

It's all smokers for PC though:

09' WR300
09' CR125
06' YZ285

and I just sold this 06' KX250 a few months ago. And I miss it: bad Sad

Good God do I fucking love 2 strokes!!!!!!!!!

Next bike is gonna be a 500 for the sand. The 285 aint cutting out there.

Summer of '10 there were significantly more smokers at the track than summer '09.

Every single time I go to a practice or race with my CR5000AF, it attracts guys who come over and look it over carefully. They usually make a comment to the effect of, "Damn that is a cool bike." I won the 40+ B class on it last year against a bunch of 450s.
