Forgive me if this has already been discussed but now that the 7/51 drama is boiled down I was really wondering if these two guys surprised anyone else? For one 377CP put down some seriously good laps nearly holshyeee-oting and even battled for several laps with guys like DW15 etc. He did fade a tad (only a tad) but for his first race back in all these years I thought last weekend was a serious victory for that guy. Well as long as he isn't 30 also?

Metty totally stoked me out. I was very impressed with his riding. He looks to be in very good shape. And he appears to have come back from the GWN faster than I remember. I hope he has high expectations of himself because he can perform I believe.

both dudes were awesome!

CP battled with Bagget and Wilson through moto 1 and was good in moto 2 as well.

Metty is just a bad dude and what a great opportunity he has to ride RV's bike this summer

if you didn't think these guys would do that well, well, that's the problem.

I think I was more surprised with Pourcel. Metcalfe has always been fast outdoors and is on the best bike out there so I was happy for him, but not surprised - Kawasaki was brilliant to get him on that bike. Pourcel on the other hand really surprised me. I was surprised to see him with the front pack, but more surprised at how little he faded.

I don't see how pourcel would be surprising. Aside from motoconcepts where he wasn't even that bad at hangtown considering the circumstances, he has always been an elite rider. In fact, I expect even more out of him as he gets his racing legs back.

I was not surprised by either of them, given how good the new Yamaha 250's seem to be I suspect we will see a bit more from CP once he gets back into the swing of things.

He finished both motos which has been half the battle previously. I'll say I was pleased with his results. I think it's just surprising that a dude can take as much time off racing as he has and come back and be competitive again. Most pros take a few races to get to where is was on race one. Maybe surprised is the wrong word but maybe impressed?
