Big fan of MX for over 40 years... Been to Budds every year since 2007. Villopoto day. Saw Magoo at High Point. When I lived in Italy in the 70's, went to a few GP's. Saw Robert and "The MAN" race. I raced a Yamaha JT1 as a kid - MX version, no lights! Red and White beauty my dad modded to hell and back.

I finally own a MX bike for the first time since my 80's Maico Spider 250.

I have lately been putting around on a friend's 04 KTM 525SX. WAY too much bike. Terrifying.

I am in my 50's and can still grind vert on my Alva skate, so I figured "Why not"?

I picked up a solid 2005 CR125R for $ 1600 yesterday. Has a slight ding on one under engine frame spars, nothing major. Runs well! I don't need a blaster.

Gonna "fix her up". I ordered tons o' stuff from RM ATV/MC... Pipe, plastics, V force. Wiseco top end, grips, etc. I'll post a pic when I am finished. I figure $2300 in the critter overall isn't too bad. Money well spent!

So if you are an old bastard like me... Never surrender!

This is awesome to read! I grew up racing from about age 8 to 15 with my dad and brother and quit cold turkey due to crashes, the recession hitting, etc. I'm out of college now and 23 living in a different state and now that I have some money I have the itch BAD to get a bike again. I'd do the same thing, get a 125 or 150 and go out to just get back into it and have some fun. Enjoy your new ride! I am jealous and hope to be joining you soon with a bike of my own.

Skate or die. Love guys around my age that still "do" this kind of shit.

Congrats on the new scoot! Your face is going to hurt.

Congrats! Similarly, I hadn't even thought about bikes again until 2010, and I've owned 5 since. All older two strokes as well. I restored a junk 2000 kx250 just so I could have a bike around the house to wrench on, and ride when the mood strikes. If you're like me you'll never be without a dirt bike again lol.

I thought I had it rough with 2 years bikeless, just picked up a 150sx. It feels good to have a ride in the garage again, even though it's in pieces and there's a foot of snow on the ground.

Thanks ALL for the words of encouragement!

Time to make a donation to Preston Petty. We used his plastics as kids. Good Karma.

EDIT: Made the donation... Please help Preston out with any amount you can!

In 2005 I turned 30 and took a pretty good lick at Gary Bailey's school in VA. When I got home and back to work my boss pretty much through a bucket of money at me and said that's enough dirt bikes for now. At the time I felt he was right. I had a young kid and wife blah, blah, blah. Fast forward 10 years later and I picked up a 2009 KTM 125sx. I needed something to chase my third kid on.

Well, pretty much finished.

Put on silencer, air filter, and drive sprocket guard last night. Will adjust chain/suspension tonight. Perhaps some minor graphics additions...

Time for some joy juice and a few stationary break-in cycles. Hope to get it out this weekend or next.

It isn't "all that and a bag of chips", but I am pleased with my work and now have a reliable steed!

Shroud and plate graphics aren't doing it for me (stock would look good) but everything else is spot on. A beaut!
