Anyone have experience riding the snow bike conversion kits? They're getting popular where I live and the shop I work for is bringing in the 2Moto Radix kits. Other shops in town are selling Timbersled and Yeti kits
i have not converted to snobike yet. still on sleds. I been contemplating doing it for couple years now. i think i'm gonna give it another year or 2. the technology is moving way fast....these skids are getting outdated super fast because they keep releasing better skids....and they are pricey. Yer talking 5-6k just for skid/kit and another 6-8k for a bike. I'll stick with sled for another season or 2.
Timbersled really one-upped the 2 moto kit and made them obsolete, that was about 4 years ago, the NKOTB is Yeti, they are supposed to be even better than the Timbersled kit, but are stupid expensive(like cost as much as last years left over ski doo summit XM price) I have not seen a 2 moto kit in a while, though, perhaps they have something new out.
I have family in Idaho who work on the natural gas pipeline and they have tried many different brands but make no exception the mountainhorse timbersled is the best period. great design and good components. they use them for work in the wintertime on the gas pipelineand for pleasure. they use ktm 450s but the ktm 505 is even better though not as new
After Polaris bought Timbersled, people found out that Arctic Cat has one in the works also, supposedly a partnership with Sherco. Not sure when they plan on releasing it, but it should be pretty fun. Let's just hope it's a little nicer quality than the typical Arctic Cat sled...

Yeah I know what you mean! We got a new SKS as a demo this year so I gotta try to find a place to ride where I can go to actually use it like it should be. An SKS is probably not the right sled for us to be ordering as a demo, but man it looks sweet sitting there
Should be a fun sled though!

I have a fair amount of time on both the 2 moto and timbersled. In my opinion I wouldn't even consider the 2 moto. It's an entry level option compared to the timbersled.
Just west of Grand Marais / Adams Trail area..........
Running 2.25" track ?
2.4" track on the SKS. I'd love to get up to Grand Marais, never been there sledding before. Sounds like the UP is the spot to go for the snowbikes too. Heard they get a little tippy on the trails down here, so it's best to get into the deeper stuff
2.6" on mine. yeah i'm in Seney/GM area all january/february. Plenty of snow for those tracks...actually struggle on shorties where we ride. sno bikes would be fun there and i see their tracks all the time nowadays.
About half done building my sled up for the season, so far I have just put a skid plate, MBRP race can, a set of quickclickers and traded the black skis for a set of manta green ones. I'm thinking about powdercoating the rails green like the skid and skis, but I'm just too lazy. I went for the 3 inch track in 154, should be a wheelie machine, we are already getting some good snow in B.C so if the weather continues, I'll be stoked.

Nice video - do you know that area well or how often do you hit stumps/stuff under the snow? Would love to get out west sometime to do some riding, I'm just a flat lander trail rider. My excitement is hitting road approaches and ditch banging...but pretty fun going thru the twisty's in the north woods

Those things have to just chew through fuel! I imagine its like riding at the dunes just worse fuel wise!
Nope. thats what I always thought too but I have been around them many times on the hill over the last couple years and they surprisingly just kinda brap along barely above idle.
Very cool. I want one but i gotta sell some sleds first and get a new fo-fid.
Is a FI bike pretty much mandatory for this?
Also, are these things still running VP fuel or just regular premium during the winter?
We just...

We just don't get enough snow in my area to justify the cost.
don't require EFI but i'm sure it helps. still see some 2 strokes with kits. personally would love an old KX500 with a kit on it.
no different than ice racing setup....except you have to pay attention to deep snow things like snow packing your engine/radiators...I think i would be looking for bike with electric start myself if i did it. Bitch to start bikes in the sub 20°.
couple good sno bike forums out there...snowest or back country rebels.
go west yearly.
takes us 27hrs to reach togwotee, lol....but worth it.
You get to the Wyoming border and you are thing..... sweet almost there.......ummm not so much. 8 or 9 years ago we did Brighton to Tog in 23 hers 50 mins. 4 drivers and well orchestrated gas stops.
