CE is just another testing certification from Europe. China uses it, that might be a clue.

If I had two helmets to choose from, ECE or Snell approved, I would wear the ECE certified helmet.

And why would that be.. the article posted talks about the difference... TLD uses the ECE standard.. From what I understand it's Euro deal?

I used to believe "SNELL or nothing"

I now own only ECE helmets
I even have a beautiful ECE Euro Caberg helmet that is euro only because it's not DOT (not sold in America) but I love it

Looks similar to this

Has a built in sun visor (think sunglasses) that are retractable....same as they have on fighter pilot helmets
(you can see it there if you look)

that blatant lack of education and knowledge about things should really make you feel like you need to restrain yourself from commenting on things you do not understand or know about.

CE is NOT "just another certification from Europe". CE is the compulsory European Union testing/certification rating. You are not allowed to sell a helmet withing the 27 countries of the EU without CE certification. (equivalent to DOT certification in the US).

CE testing include 6 impact points tests and more importantly batch-testing which is a very big difference with independent/paid-for test ratings like SNELL.

In late 2009, SNELL came out with the new SNELL M2010 rating which is a tremendous improvement on the previous M2005 and comes closer to the CE specifications as far a max allowed G impact to the brain, but still only just for the smaller size helmets.

my understanding is that Snell 2000 & 2005 were designed to absorb the impact of a race car roll cage and repeated hard hits, creates a hard shell.
CE is designed for more realistic impacts, multiple impacts in different areas creating a softer shell that absorbs more energy.
