I just got a an ear full from one of the kids in hood who has a TLD brain bucket.. He race's the National Hare and Hound series and packed his face into the ground not long ago and tore apart a Fox helmet. I have heard an read a couple of posts on the CE rating and that it didn't differ from the snell rating.. and that it's another money deal.. What do you nutjobs think?

I now own only ECE helmets
I even have a beautiful ECE Euro Caberg helmet that is euro only because it's not DOT (not sold in America) but I love it
Looks similar to this
Has a built in sun visor (think sunglasses) that are retractable....same as they have on fighter pilot helmets
(you can see it there if you look)
Thanks for being so imformative XbUTCKz China no workie 4 u.
Really makes you think about other Testing Facilities especially the Results.
CE is NOT "just another certification from Europe". CE is the compulsory European Union testing/certification rating. You are not allowed to sell a helmet withing the 27 countries of the EU without CE certification. (equivalent to DOT certification in the US).
CE testing include 6 impact points tests and more importantly batch-testing which is a very big difference with independent/paid-for test ratings like SNELL.
In late 2009, SNELL came out with the new SNELL M2010 rating which is a tremendous improvement on the previous M2005 and comes closer to the CE specifications as far a max allowed G impact to the brain, but still only just for the smaller size helmets.
CE is designed for more realistic impacts, multiple impacts in different areas creating a softer shell that absorbs more energy.
