SHOCKER

With that mile long start it amazes me that the small guys like Jeremy Martin and Cooper Web were able to get the starts they did. Not to mention carry speed on the big up hills of GH.

Is this why Wilson's bike had a mechanical issue, because of the load the bike was under? You can actually see him put his hand up in air over a jump in Moto 2. GL even said that he thought it was a mechanical issue.

Things will be different this weekend, i'm sure.

Did anyone see the go pro video of Zach Bell on the start taking off like a rocket? That kid must weigh 115 or so to accelerate that fast.

Me and a buddy was talking about this the other day about how the lightweight Cats seem to jump things more effortlessly vs. his 230lbs where he felt he had to carry more speed and the issue of slowing the bike down once clearing it...

Interesting thought, but then again Martin put a huge gap between himself and Baggett in the second moto..and Baggett is far from big..

He also usually had the most horsepower out of anyone on the track.

Bell is a freakishly good starter. He's holeshots that were multiplt bike lengths. Too bad he hits the deck so much. He seems to have lost some of his speed over the last couple of years. I wonder if that is due to injury.

When you hit the deck that hard that many times you are eventually going to lose a step off your pace....

Did Wilson's weight cause the bike malfunction?

Doesn't seem likely to me. I can't think of why a bike would cut out due to having a heavy load.

Justin Bogle grabbed the Holeshot in moto two, he's tall, ever think that Bell is just a good starter regardless of size? GH's start isn't all about weight, it's about hitting your gears perfectly and not making any mistakes because even the slightest will leave you starting at the end of the field, although weighing 115 lbs helps!

I love the shot of this start that somebody posted a while back taken from the way to the inside front. Windhams is so laid over that his grips are almost gragging the ground! Amazing style.

I was talking to my Dad about this topic and he mentioned to me about my days of racing quarter midgets and everybody had to be within a certain weight limit. For example, if the driver weighs 50 lbs, and the weight minimum was 200 lbs, your car had to be at least 150 lbs. This would certainly be interesting for Motocross, not sure if it would make things unfair or more fair, though. Since the average rider weighs about 175 lbs, and a bike weighs (approximately) 200 lbs, lets say the limit is 375 lbs for both bike and rider. If a rider like Zach Bell weighs 120 lbs, his bike would need to weight 255 lbs, but if a rider weighs 200 lbs, his bike would only need to weigh about 175 lbs. Sounds ridiculous in terms of motocross, but it's interesting nonetheless.
