Doing really well, crashed, got up and charged back.
Overall I think his riding was good tonight, even though the results might not say so.

Did good in his heat race, crashed, and still charged back to 14th.
But racing week to week not knowing if you'll be at the race on a local shop CRF is a much better deal....

-1 x2.

The guy jumped off a privateer Honda, on to a factory supported KTM from one weekend to the next. Give the guy time to adapt to the new bike. He is after all, racing against the fasted men in the world.

No kidding! What did they say... he only has 3 days on that thing? Sheesh let him at least get in a little dialed.

That and he was doing pretty damn good before the crash. Something that could've happened on any bike.

It's been mentioned (I think in Racerhead) how tough it is for a very organized and regimented guy like Short to just jump on a new bike in mid season and go his normal speed. He has to start to feel at home on the KTM 450, and then he'll be good.

this.

He qualified 16th in Atlanta. Worst he's done so far this year. I hope he gels with the KTM soon and it all goes good for him.

Actually if you did some research before hand, he qualified 20th in Oakland. He has had three rides on the KTM, finished second in his heat and was doing pretty good before washing the front end.

The guy practically holeshots his heat and main, gets second in a pretty stacked heat, starts in the top group of the main, is about 6-7th at second turn, runs around top 8-9 for much of the race until he goes down in a corner just washing the front end, goes from next to last (19th) and still manages to get back to 14th in a spread out field.
Also don't forget to mention that when he was lapped by James and then RV, he stayed right with James for 1/2 lap until he gave it to RV, and then stayed not far behind RV to the finish.

He looked good on the bike and everyone was happy

Hi it's me the KTM lover and moaner #1! Muahahaha! Actually he rode very good speedwise. He has been riding those "bikes" probably as much as Hondas but he did it this time with minimal amount of testing. Dungey and Goerkey have probably the engine working good but suspension is always a totally personal thing. The katoom is as good as all other brands at that level. I'll waiting for a Husky to show up in 250 classWhistlingWhistlingLaughing

I was really impressed at how well he did early. I missed his crash and was disappointed to see he finished 14th. His heat was impressive. Second in the heat trumps whatever qualifying position he had as long as he qualified.

I was worried he wouldn't do well on the KTM coming off the Honda. Glad he proved me wrong.

I must have looked back at every race except Oakland so my mistake there. Although he did finish 6th there on his first race on the stock Honda...
