Matthes had an interesting tweet...

Just an FYI- If the drs and the teams agree that the heat is dangerous, the motos will be shortened this weekend.

yea no sense paying to go watch 15 minute motos, its gettin as bad as stupid cross... give 'em all a camel bak like mike and get'r done!!

Those MEN that race MX won't let this happen. I am surprised they haven't asked for longer motos prior to this.

We had a Pro nat a few years back with mid-day temps at 105f (40c). It was cruel and unusual punishment and more than one rider showed classic signs of so-called "heat stroke".

They rode the motos, but there wasn't a lot of fun to be had.

Remember when motos were 40+2? That was cool. Those guys were tough.

Maybe they should just cancel the race and find some climate controlled mini putt to play instead.

If it was insanely hot? It might be a conversation worth having. As of right now? It's warm, but nowhere near as bad as it was here a couple years ago. That felt like being under a blowtorch while having a swamp cooler jacuzzi nearby.

Dr. Mark, you guys get the heat, but probably don't get the same type of humidity that they get here. It's pretty brutal.

I don't think the teams should have anything to do with it. If the doctors agree that the heat is at a dangerous level, then I can understand shortening the motos, but it should only be their call.

Doc grew up in Oklahoma, I'm sure he gets it.

There is way's of dealing with the heat without making Moto's shorter and adverse weather conditions have always been the core of the sport.

I raced once in TX and it was mid summer 105 degree 60% humidity crap and it was brutal. I was only 10 yrs old at the time and could only do both motos in one of the 3 classes I was signed up for. I think if it's 100+ with a high % humidity they should shorten the motos but maybe run 3 short 15-20 min motos instead.

This is motocross! Tell this to Lackey or anybody lined at the gate when they were at Carlsbad back in the day when it was 115, you didnt see those guy whining about the heat. When did motocross start catering to the elements?
6/4/2010 4:25pm
They should have a union and have some type of verbage about the heat and humidity and wind. And rain too, they shouldn't have to ride in rain.

They did? When?

Anyway, heat stroke is no joke. This clearly shows that someone has the right mindset about things somewhere, imo. Hope it doesn't come down to it though.

And yes, the olden days with the 40+2 motos was gnarly. You could eat a burger, have it digest in your stomach and then dispose of it in a porta-potty before they crossed the finish line.

You guys are acting like a bunch of hysterical women, based on a Twitter post. There aren't any plans at the moment to shorten the motos. Unless something radical happens, I'd be surprised they shorten them.

That's the wrong lady.

I still think it's a good thing that they have this sort of stuff in mind, in case things get out of hand.

I've raced 40 plus 2 at Rio Bravo, multiple times. Same for San Antonio, multiple times. Same for Whitney. In heat and humidity worse than Denver will ever see.

Bring out the tampons.....
