I know this helmet is old technology, was made in 2008 from what I can tell, but its still used by a lot of people.

I also have heard they are coming out with a new line soon.

Having said that, it's $170 shipped for a time proven design. I can't see any downsides for the cost.

Is my conclusion correct? Possibly best helmet under $200?

Please remember all moto helmets DO have a shelf life...the styrofoam lining will break down after only 4-5 years, and by the sounds of it, the helmet you are looking at is almost double that.

Not to say that helmet is spoiled goods, I'm just saying I would be willing to be anything the helmet lining has already begun to deteriorate

This guy is right.

If you meant that the design is from 2008, and the helmet ain't been sitting for too long, then it's a hell of a deal!

In my shop we average 5 years life from the helmets. The scary thing about the fiberglass helmets is that the exterior is so fine it will still look like the same helmet after 5 years. Polycarbonate helmets though will fade to some degree.

Just make sure it's not an old helmet, and if it isn't, it'll be the best 170 bucks you've spent on security equipment

Yeah sorry guys it's either a 2015 or 2016 model but my research showed they were launched in 2008.

Its the last one, it's white and blue but I've been thinking of going red/white/blue scheme anyways.

The shelf life angle is why I'm replacing my current helmet. Its a 10 year old HJC and I just don't trust it due to age.

If you are only speaking about the actual design then you are solid my friend. Hell of a deal

Be careful with where you are buying it from. My friend bought a high end Agv helmet online for $150 a few years back and it ended up being a counterfeit from China. It was so cheaply made he literally broke it in half with his hands.

Last year's Leatts are like 250 right now. IMO worth the extra cost

Watch out as Shoei sells Japanese versions of the VFXW that do not fit like the USA versions. You can usually find them considerably cheaper. They will also have other safety ratings, not DOT and SNELL.

Are you buying this helmet new for $170.00? Because if its any of the design models it retailed for well over $550.00. If its Snell 2015 its not that old.

This right here. Check out the close out helmets on Rocky Mountain. They have some great helmets such as the Leatts for good prices.

I'll double check it isn't a JDM helmet, good catch.

Its from a big US retailer. Its just listed under closeout and labeled as the last one. Which is why I think its a 2015 model.

Pulled the trigger. It's a US model and www.btosports.com had it in a "bargain bin" which is separate from the regular closeout area. It showed 1 left.

They wanted $199.97 for it and I used my 10% coupon I got for signing up for the newsletter, which brought it to $179.99 with free shipping.

Thanks for the feedback.
