Shawn Rife

Just wanted to give a shout out to Shawn for the excellent ride he had going at Toronto. Didn't see anything else posted about it and thought he deserves a mention. Shawn was running fifth until the "collision" with Durham. I'm a Durham fan so I was kind of bummed to see it go down like that. Hopefully Shawn gets another shot at a good finish before the season is out.

I was thinking the same thing.
I know very little of him, but he was doing well untill DD cleaned him.

Yeah Shawn had really impressive starts all night. Surprised me.

Preparation+Opportunity=Luck.

I was about to post a topic giving him a congrats for riding so well Saturday night. I was very pleased to see him run well in both the heat and main. Also found it a bit surprising that Durham passed him in that way since they kinda grew up racing in the same area.

I don't think Durhams move was intentional. Looked like to me that Rifes bike broke loose into Durham. Rife seemed to look back, even turned up and gave him the line. I think it messed him up and he slid down into Durham powering out of the corner. Big fan of Durham and Rife so it sucked but it just seemed like a racing incident to me.

That kid has had big balls since he was on 85's. I seen him jump the triple behind the starting gate at Hipoint on a cr 85 a few years back. He had a great ride going until DD parked him. I hated to see that because I was rootin' for them both.

In my opinion they were both going for the same line... DD just came out with the better end of the stick.

Part of racing...

SR has really been on it the last few races.....

I guess everyone has an opinion, but I thought it was pretty obvious that Rife was checking up to let him go by and got taken out.

It couldn't have been much more blatant that Rife was giving the position away and moving off line.

When Durham went by and took the usual line through the corner, I don't think he knew that Rife's front wheel was going to be dropping down into his rear wheel.

If anything, Rife screwed up by letting his front wheel come back down into the usual line and hit DDs rear wheel.

Rife was having the night of his life.
No matters who fault it was, it is racing.
Glad to see him up there.

I'm bummed for the end result but happy to see him up there. Way to go Shawn.

I really like DD but that move was total BS. Just uncalled for and not just a racing incident. He made a crappy move on someone a few weeks back that I didnt' like either but can't remember what it was...getting old.

Anyway I liked the kid and hope he gets his head on straight or he'll be losing fans.

I don't really get how it is all Durhams fault. Every rider all night looked to be using that same rut in that turn. Rife obviously conceded the rut to DD and checked up but the rut went right into the path that Rife stayed on.

bummer deal, if he were checking up then he did a horrible job of getting out of the way....

just sayin

Do you actually race or just watch the races on tv? Because as far as takeouts go that was not shit. Your comment is the biggest pussy comment I have read all day. Go play badmitten if you think that was to rough. Jezus H Christ man.

3/27/2012 1:32 AM

I don't believe the take out was intentional. Rites bike really threw him in a weird way and he was injured which was a bummer.

If DD makes that move 100 times 75 times Rife stays up. 24 he falls in the slowest turn on the track, springs up, and only loses that spot. 1 time he gets injured and his race ruined.

It was just bad luck, but IMO there is no way you can call that intentional or dirty.
