What's your take people? If you have to purchase them, would you go for the Gaerne's SG-10 and SG-12 or the Alpinestars?

My son has been wearing Gaerne SG10's for the last 5 years.
He wore A-Stars for a couple years but said the Gaerne fits and feel better on his feet.

Well made all the way around and they consistently clean up well and look good as long as you have them.

SG-10, can't afford to keep soles in Alpinestars.

I've owned both brands and have had excellent results from both. Quality.

Gaerne!

Had Astars for a few years, poor soles don't last long.

Once you try Gaerne, you'll ever wonder why you had a bootie in your boot in the 1st place.

Got sick of replacing soles on A-Star. Switched to SG10 and man what a difference. More comfortable, last forever and no break in time.

Alpinestars seem to have gone down in quality over the past few years. I had an old 02 model pair of Tech 8s from when I started riding...and while I went through soles pretty quickly, the rest of the boot stayed intact. I did like to run sharp pegs on my old 125 though, so part of that is on me. I also have an 07 pair...the soles lasted a tiny bit longer, but still managed to get chewed up easily. However, the buckles in these dont want to stay shut (mainly the ankle and ones on top of the foot) and overall not lasting as long. I will say they did a great job protecting my ankles when I cased an 85ft triple a couple years back, though. I managed to break my left tib/fib in 5 places overall, with the majority of the breaks just above my ankle, but no damage to the ankle itself.

I like the Sidi boots, but from what I hear they arent for people who wear knee braces...so I will be going Gaerne soon.

Shattered a toe and broke a bone in my foot 2 weeks ago in SG-12s, never had a problem with tech 10s. That said, I now have a fresh pair of Sidi to break in. Wasn't much of a fan of the tech 10s either.

i bought a pair of A stars and wore them at the last outdoor national and then acouple times practicing and the sole has almost peeled completely off. I will be getting Gaerne next time for sure.

Alpinestars used to be the best. Not anymore. They are just living off of their name now. Bought a pair of Gaerne SG10's last year. Best boots ever. Very strong, very well made and super comfortable. And they cost less than Alpinestars.

Nothing beats Italian made boots and Alpinestars doesn't make boots in Italy anymore.
