Quit crying. You live in New York and can drive to about 4 different races.

And you have 8 Supercrosses and 2 Nationals within a 10 hour drive. Your point is?

What about Namur or Farleigh Castle? Leave the vip tents and daycare stuff
for a weekend, pack everyone up and give 'em a glimpse of the USA.

oh, forgot, there is no more Namur..............

...what race is within reasonable driving distance besides southwick and budds creek in the northeast? The closest SX gets is indianapolis or atlanta

WIthin a 12-hour drive from my house is:

-Unadilla -- 90 minutes
-Southwick -- 4 hours
-Steel City -- 6 hours
-High Point -- 7 hours
-Red Bud -- 12 hours
-Budds Creek -- 12 hours
- Indy -- 12 hours

A far cry from 8 SX and 2 Nationals within 10 hours of SoCal

I was talking about having a national in georgia, florida, alabama, pick a place.. Thats a huge target audience where outdoor sports are very common.

California does not need another national. I know we are lucky to be close to several races in NY, I never said send them back to us.

I agree with pitbike. SoCal is spoiled when it comes to moto (everything too, but that's a different topic). I remember hearing that DC was looking for places in the SE to host a national.

I got an idea. Put Milsaps Training Facility on the schedule for a National! They have everything down there.

PitBike,
I'm not advocating for another race in the NE, was just pointing out to Masonry, who lives in SoCal, that they are much better off with races than anywhere else in the country.

Personally, I'm in favor of dropping one of the CA rounds (done) and one of the PA rounds for a couple of rounds in the Southeast.

MX and SX are two different series by two different promoters, so putting them together makes no sense.
West coast:
Glen Helen to Hangtown-450 miles
Hangtown to Washougal- 620 miles
Total miles- 1070

East coast:
Southwick to:
Unadilla -210 miles
High point -540 miles
steel city-485 miles
Budds creek- 412 miles

If you really want to be within best range for attending the most nationals, you may want to move to Scranton PA.

I just don't see southern California not having a round. Southern Californians will still have Glen Helen to ride, and then you will also have a new premier facility. Seems win-win to me-if you actually ride that is. You can still go watch or ride Thursday practice if you want to watch pros.

Socal doesn't need another national.. that's true, we just need the one we have (had).

You can have all the fuggin SX's, they suck, and having 3 Anahiems and a San Diego is fucktarded... over.

IMO Supercross is what needs to change, give Seattle, Utah, Phoenix one of the Anaheim races. Three races one stadium is redundant. Ive heard the argument about California being the Mecca of Moto, and yes, thats true. It WAS hard to fill Stadiums in other states in the past, but Supercross is huge now with all sorts of Live TV.

You forgot Toronto - 11 hours.

There are also two Canadian National rounds within 10 hrs Gopher Dunes and Walton.

Walton is also the home of the largest amateur event in Canada (kind of like our Loretta Lynn's) which finishes off the the final round of the Pro Nationals.

A lot of serious players show up on both the amateur and Pro levels.

I think you might be able to throw another one or two in there with Gopher & Walton. Wink

I am pretty sure that the promoters of any race series are only making the decision to place an event at some location based on who deserves it...

It is based on who will support it so they can make money. Socal by an large supports all of the races they throw our way (except rain in San Diego) so we get all of those races. Part of the reason I live in Socal is because of all of the tracks and races near by. I love MX/SX and I am glad that I am close to all of the stuff happening here.

I am sad that the national won't be at Glen Helen, I love that track when it is all done up. Super gnarly, tough, it really shows who is prepared for outdoors. I will say that over the years the quality of prep of Glen Helen's actual racing surface has declined in my experience. Both for the national and the local events that it holds. I heard of some problems with water a few years ago and it has been hit an miss for me ever since. They have been adding infrastructure for sure, which makes it nice for the nationals and even the local races to a degree.

Bottom line is that racing is a business. They do it to make a living. Everybody has to eat.

Why does supercross count? Who really give a rip about that? I'd so way rather have the access to nationals in the northeast than the SX races 500 miles away in SoCal.

There's more than 30 million people in California, and the state's probably 700 miles tip to tip.

300 Million, not significant enough to warrant any attention. The appalachians have more moto in them than Ca. . Get some of those big spenders going and the promoters have it made. They can even have a techno area in the pits showing all the new advances, canned food, crank phones, plastic forks.
