California does NOT need another pro race.

What about Namur or Farleigh Castle? Leave the vip tents and daycare stuff
for a weekend, pack everyone up and give 'em a glimpse of the USA.
oh, forgot, there is no more Namur..............
-Unadilla -- 90 minutes
-Southwick -- 4 hours
-Steel City -- 6 hours
-High Point -- 7 hours
-Red Bud -- 12 hours
-Budds Creek -- 12 hours
- Indy -- 12 hours
A far cry from 8 SX and 2 Nationals within 10 hours of SoCal
California does not need another national. I know we are lucky to be close to several races in NY, I never said send them back to us.
I'm not advocating for another race in the NE, was just pointing out to Masonry, who lives in SoCal, that they are much better off with races than anywhere else in the country.
Personally, I'm in favor of dropping one of the CA rounds (done) and one of the PA rounds for a couple of rounds in the Southeast.
West coast:
Glen Helen to Hangtown-450 miles
Hangtown to Washougal- 620 miles
Total miles- 1070
East coast:
Southwick to:
Unadilla -210 miles
High point -540 miles
steel city-485 miles
Budds creek- 412 miles
If you really want to be within best range for attending the most nationals, you may want to move to Scranton PA.
I just don't see southern California not having a round. Southern Californians will still have Glen Helen to ride, and then you will also have a new premier facility. Seems win-win to me-if you actually ride that is. You can still go watch or ride Thursday practice if you want to watch pros.
You can have all the fuggin SX's, they suck, and having 3 Anahiems and a San Diego is fucktarded... over.

There are also two Canadian National rounds within 10 hrs Gopher Dunes and Walton.
Walton is also the home of the largest amateur event in Canada (kind of like our Loretta Lynn's) which finishes off the the final round of the Pro Nationals.
A lot of serious players show up on both the amateur and Pro levels.
It is based on who will support it so they can make money. Socal by an large supports all of the races they throw our way (except rain in San Diego) so we get all of those races. Part of the reason I live in Socal is because of all of the tracks and races near by. I love MX/SX and I am glad that I am close to all of the stuff happening here.
I am sad that the national won't be at Glen Helen, I love that track when it is all done up. Super gnarly, tough, it really shows who is prepared for outdoors. I will say that over the years the quality of prep of Glen Helen's actual racing surface has declined in my experience. Both for the national and the local events that it holds. I heard of some problems with water a few years ago and it has been hit an miss for me ever since. They have been adding infrastructure for sure, which makes it nice for the nationals and even the local races to a degree.
Bottom line is that racing is a business. They do it to make a living. Everybody has to eat.
There's more than 30 million people in California, and the state's probably 700 miles tip to tip.
