For me, it was back in the day when my friend offered me a ride on his new (used) Suzuki TM400. That was a bike I had no desire to ever rider again! I rode 2 laps and told him, "sweet bike, I wish I had one"! NOT!!!!

How about your sketchiest ride?

I rode a 1975 Yamaha MX400 about 100 yards that I got in a trade and decided that was enough for me. Nothing on earth should be allowed to be so heavy and vibrate so much and only have a few inches of horrible suspension. What a pile of shit. My sincerest apologies to mx400bee here on vital.

Ha! I've never ridden one of those and now I guess I no longer have the desire to do so!

Service Honda CR500AF....ill handling, poor suspension and way too much motor for a 250F frame. I thinkk the rear end passed me ten times in that race.

No apologies needed Newmann. My body still aches from the last time I rode that POS. I would LMFAO but my ribs still hurt from coming up short on a double two years ago. I pity the poor bastard that bought it from me.

The 1975 Honda CR250 was an evil pile. Vibrated like a plate packer and handled like one as well.

Had the same experience on the TM400. it was at the dealer, and I only weighted a little over 100#.........there was a long hill and open area behind their shop. Will never Forget that few minutes!

Rode a 98 KTM380 mxc. The thing was downright scary. Shook, twitched had power like a lightswitch. Rode it for 15 minutes and never rode it again.

I don't have any stories about death traps from the 70's, but an 09 Honda 450 I owned for one month sure made me feel like a ghost was riding around with me a jerking the bars all over the place the more I rode it.

I didn't want to spend the money to sort it out......just bought a new 250f and was done with it. The mags definitely were spot on with the criticism of that bike.

YZ465, I was maybe 11 or 12 at the time. Weighed in at maybe 100 pounds, that thing had a mind of it's own.

I'd have to say it was a 1985 or 86 Honda CR500 that Harry Klemm (I think) built for the guys at Dirt Bike magazine. Tom Webb let me take it out for a couple of hours. I took it out on the old TT track at Indian Dunes (the one between the Shadow Glen track and the old landing strip) as it was too much for me on the regular MX tracks. They were fast already. But with a port job worthy of a 125, plus a pipe and carb work, OMG! I thought the thing was a 1000cc twin. It didn't rip your arms out of the socket, but just kept accelerating like it was comin' on the pipe all the way through the powerband. It shot a roost like a hill climber, except I was still on flat ground. Scary fast, but fun and good handling.

For me it was the KX60. I have been tall all my life, so my dad moved me up to the KX60 when my body (size wise) was ready, but my maturity and experience wasn't. It was such a huge step up for me at such a young age. Learning the clutch on a bike that seemed so much more powerful than the 50 I just had was quite difficult as I remember. I wadded it up quite a few times. Lost a lot of teeth (baby ones thankfully) on that damn thing. Started riding a 250 two stroke when I was 12 and that didn't scare me near as much. By that point I actually thought it was awesome that I was riding the same bike the pros did.

85 cr 500 there's no reason for that much power . Soon as you let out the clutch it was on!

You guys posting modern day bikes are a laugh....and an AF500?? Geez...

The correct answer, Alex, is a TM400....the only bike you could crash on riding in a straight line on flat ground.

An Auto 390 Husky. Nothing actually wrong with it, but I could not get the hang of jumping it. Would change up a gear just as I left the ground. Glad I never tried it on a SX track.

My 500. Makes my 450 feel like a minibike engine-wise.
