Just a thought
But why are the sand sections always so short and small ?

Perhapse at least at some rounds they could make an entire
Lane a sand section , or multiple corners and half a lane
Or something
Sand is fun to watch and could slow them down a little
And add to lap times etc ..

I think the Phoenix sand was awesome and I think it'd be cool to see a whole sand lane like maybe some big sand rollers or something. Seems to me they never venture outside the box do different things. I think they could make some very interesting sections by incorporating sand but just always make it like a straight away or turn or something.

I like the sand sections and agree they could be made better and bigger.

I can't remember the year (maybe 06/07) or track, but it was in the Reed, Carmichael, Stewart 4 stroke days.
There was a track with a huge kicker into a sand roller/whoop straightaway, and those guys were launching into it lap after lap, was awesome to watch.
That would be a cool sand section to replicate again!

As much as I'd like to see more sand on the SX tracks it's probably not going to happen.
SX is a different sport than MX, and sand is more of an outdoor thing.
Most of the riders would probably be against this idea (except for the sand experts). It requires different set of skills, not all the SX racers possess, as you can clearly see by the amount of action every time a sand section is included on the track.
I love those and as a fan would definitely like to see more!

They have to stop doing these small sand sections like last weeks track. I don't understand how any of the Dirt wurx guys thinks that's a good idea.

The sand section in Phoenix was really good.

Watch the SMX cup if you want to see an indoor race that's all sand

Racing was actually pretty good on that stuff

The jump into the sand is cool, and Phoenix made the turn work good

Agree 100% slows them down and makes for some good racing.

More time with wheels on the ground period would be safer and better racing IMO.

I think the sand sections are cool on paper and even better when they work. Something that can safely be an equalizer

Sand is cool when done right. I'd like to see some long sand roller sections in these huge stadiums where they don't use the floor space properly. Like in Dallas for instance, replace that first set of whoops everyone was just jumping through with a set of big, Freestone style rollers. It means Feld would have to buy more materials for races and we all know how excited they are to do that....

You guys ever think they are putting in these tiny sand sections just to increase lap times a little bit to avoid low 40 second lap times?
