Both mains at Oakland were the best of the class all season. 450 class will see at least two more new winners before the season's out and when's the last time we've had five or six different winners in the premier class? No lapper issues with the 22 rider fields either for the second season in a row.

Can we officially say the SX season is a great one and will only get better?

The racing at Oakland was very exciting great races. Personally I feel the racing would be even better with RV and James lining up. Kind of a bummer to see RV retire but I don't blame him.
The past five SX seasons have all had 5 different winners each 2010, 2011,2012, 2013 and 2014.

Why would any fan of the sport not want the top legendary racers not lining up? So it's better because two of the best guys aren't racing therefore the racing is better because it's easier?

SX is absolutely not better with them gone or out. Multiple winners does not always equal better racing either. Some of the best match ups have come behind 1st and 2nd place.

I respect your opinion but the rest of your post I can't relate to particularly Multiple winners does not always equal better racing either. Yeah you're right everyone remembers what great match ups were taking place behind McGrath in 96 when he was running the table. Ditto for RC and James perfect seasons.

EDIT: Great catch on how often we've had five winners but how often have we had six winners....seven? What is the most winners we've ever had in one season?

Its been a long time since getting top 10 was a good ride for anyone. Theres no putting the bike down and getting up to win after you were 30 secs down.

James always brings the X Factor of doing sick obstacles, but he's not a title threat anymore. But any given night, he can bring it like hardly anyone else, which makes things better with him in it. As for RV, I think this year ET3 and KR94 plus Dungey and TC41 would give RV a very good run for the title. RV would have been just one more heavy hitter to make the title run that more interesting. ET in Phoenix was on a different level than anyone else that race. KR has been on a different level at times. TC had by far the best racing lines last weekend. IMO, it's great racing now but would have been even better with RV and JS still in it.

I will admit I wasn't as pumped for A1 like I normally am, but the last couple weeks I got the excitement and goosebumps again when its race day. Bought my Atlanta tickets last night and I am loving the racing this year.

IMO, Oakland would have been even sicker with JS7 present.

The 450s have been kind of lame but watching Webb in that 250 class is awesome.

I gotta admit, I may be slightly more excited to watch the 250s than the 450s. The 450 guys have been around a while, they know on any given night if they got what it takes to win or not. If they're a tick off that night, they'll do the best they can and move onto next week. 250s however, you have Bowers who is an aggressive arenacross rider accustomed to winning, and Webb is young and full of piss and vinegar. Then you throw in guys like Hill, Nelson and Stewart. It's the same old rodeo for the 450 guys, but the 250 class has some new guys who feel the need to "prove themselves" and that creates an interesting dynamic.

I wish David Bailey, Rick Johnson, Jeff Ward, Ron Lechien, Guy Cooper, Jeff Matiasevich, Eric Kehow, Mike Craig, Damon Bradshaw, Jeff Stanton, JMB, Ryan Hughes, Jeff Emig, Jeremy McGrath, Mike Kiedrowski, Mike Larocco, Damon Huffman, Jimmy Button, Larry Ward, Tim Ferry, Brian Swink, Ezra Lusk, David Vuillemin, Kevin Windham and Ricky Carmichael were out there riding.

Its so boring without them.

Maybe its because I grew up with them, but I miss RV and Stewart out there.

SX just wont be the same without those two guys, the day we lose Reed will suck too... been watching these shredders for 10 years or so.

Reed is probably the last racer out there that went to school. hahhaa

There is never a dull moment with Stewart on the track. You never know what your going to get with him. He could win or get tenth. Jump the biggest jump on the track in full traffic or take the biggest digger you've ever seen.

I'm never surprised when he wins and I'm never surprised when he almost kills himself. I love watching that dude race.

FELD will do fine at the back to back races in Atlanta, but the other races you will see less people. Why? Because James and RV sell tickets.
RacerX has reported that without James, FELD sees a drop in ticket sales. I had no reason to doubt that back then, and even less reason to doubt it now.

Anyone who thinks racing is better without the top guys needs to put down the bong.
