If I were Stewart I would just design a track that consisted of nothing but linked quads separated by whoops.

I think this is pretty cool. I know they listen to riders input from time to time on the day of the race but this is really cool getting a riders input in the design stages.

Is this normal or is this relatively new?

I think I see a figure 8 section. It's about time.

Wouldn't it be cool if they did something like the top 17 finishers from the previous season all got to give input on the tracks for the season? They could take all 17 names and put them in a raffle and they pull one name for each round to see who gets to help design the track.

They did something similar to that once upon a time ago. Probably about 10 years or close to it by now. Some old/current pros during the time got to design a handful of the tracks for the year. I know Pastrana did one, Windham I think did another, and I believe Larocco had some insight on a design as well.

Some of the best tracks and racing lately was the year that some retired riders designed several tracks..
I say they should go back to some of the tracks from the 80's...

Yeah '09 I think it was. The track Pastrana designed was amazing, especially those wall berms.

Yeah I remember when they did that. I just think it'd be cool to do that every round.

One of the coolest tracks was St Louis 2009. TP199 raced it and he designed it. he killed his bike. second coolest track was the retro Anaheim track in 2008 modeled after the 1986 anaheim. it threw everyone off and was far away from the cookie cutter crap we see today

In all seriousness though. St Louis 2009 was the best SX I have ever been to. J Law through those corners on the 450 was unreal! Dennis getting us the good VIP Monster passes was not bad either!

I've suggested it before; catapult jump over an elephant, hungry tigers tied beside the whoop section, girls swinging from trapeze' above. This is Feld's show; they've got these kinda assets.

The start straight can be an ice rink so in between races Disney on Ice can entertain too.

2009. I got to walk the track Thursday and Friday, and all I could think of was DAMN, this is like an excite bike track.

That was the best track I've ever seen, IMHO.

IT seems they've done away with long lanes and 180s a lot of the time... Probably because of 450s and trying to keep the speeds down.

Having rider input is great. Now if they'd only goto 20minutes plus 2 laps.

Feld is up to something this year. They've probably been reading the Vitard posts.

I'd like to see them dumb the tracks down a bit to reduce injuries and reduces the spread between the best and the rest. Mainly cut down the whoops so mortals have a chance. The aliens run away with it.

Some slow speed crashes would add some drama. Deep fine sand snake corners.

Not sure that dumbing down the tracks and lower speeds are mutually exclusive. Just the opposite.

I actually think all the tracks should have rider input. They are the ones racing on it.

I see what he's saying and I kind of agree. I wish they would design the tracks to slow them down a bit. They build them for " show " , so they can make it look cool on TV , and at the same time do nothing but put more risk into the racing. Should be more about skill / speed , then some stupid 100' quad jump!

Yeah but if you "dumb" them down, all you get is dudes on 450s looking at what they can quad. It's not just the bikes that have changed the last 10 years. The tracks used to be peakier, shorter, sharper. No one was looking to quad stuff because there either wasn't enough motor or the risk was too high.
