GuyB was able to catch up with Roger Decoster just shortly after the announcement was made that Ryan Dungey had been docked two positions in the final results. Click the link to hear Roger's view on the decision.

Am I the only one who saw this same thing happen to Anderson in the qualifier ?

The guy half ass threw the red cross flag while Anderson was going around Reed, they all kept on the gas.

I wouldn't be able to let that go as easy as roger and redbull are. Especially after a win, moving up a spot in the all time wins, and progressing the lead in the championship. If it was bad flagging I'd be protesting my ass off

The thing that is most important to them has got to the championship, and with Roczen finishing 6th, they still increased the points lead.

FWIW I'd be pissed too.

A lot of inconsistencies with AMA officiating and seems like they make a lot of knee jerk reactions. Bum deal for everybody I guess if another team brought it up maybe something would have had to be done, but I don't see how the race would have changed if Ryan would have slowed down to roll a double, not even a triple or Rythm section. At least they didn't blow his podium streak haha

Nope it's stealing from the Rich and giving to the poor. Dunge had too many wins making the season boring so they had to take it and redistribute his win down the line haha

I think this is more of a Team saying that it happened and providing video of it.

Well yep it happened, We have to enforce the rule, it sucks but what ever they opt to do 50% of the folks will be pissed off.

With all the docked positions that have happened in the last couple of years, seems that a standard needs to be set for the flaggers to ensure fair opportunity for the riders.

Lets assume that it is true that RD did not have a chance to see the flag until it was too late. This is not the first time we have heard that. There needs to be a line on the side of the track or a spot that the flagger has to be on before a rider would get penalized for jumping on the red cross flag one that gives the best opportunity for the rider to see it.

Agreed. Waving a Red Cross flag when the rider is committed to a jump is more dangerous than a pro rider jumping a non blind basic rhythm section double.

Anyone seen any video of it?

When they cut to the section, Reedy went through and he didn't double on but he did that table in the section, I thought he might get pinged for that...

What is a 450 Supercross Main Event win worth -$100,000? Sure hope the video evidence shows Dungey intentionally jumping if that is the case. Of course it will not.

"Under pressure to treat everyone the same."

The AMA or FIM, or which ever organization is enforcing the rules, needs to be under pressure to treat similar circumstances the same, year after year after year. One wonders why it requires pressure on AMA to consistently apply the rules. Seems like this would be implied in even having rules.

Oh well, ..... We'll see what next year brings.

I rewatched it and theres pretty much no way he could see it and the guy shouldnt have still been flaggin imho there was no rider down. Id protest it. This officiating this year is a fucking joke.

Maybe it's time to go to lights placed in proper areas where they can't NOT be seen. Have them inside and outside in the beginning, middle and end of each section. Flaggers need to be on the track solely to assist in guiding riders away from whatever the reason for the caution - downed rider(s) tuff block or bike on the track, emt's etc.

I was there. No yellow flags were waved leading up to the "downed" rider. The flagger was barely waving the flag at all, just sort of standing there. The rider was standing up, off the track. It was lame, poor flagging.

All I know is now I got 1,2,3,5 in fantasy instead of just 5! Kinda sucks for Ryan but I can see their need to enforce the rules they make.

Yet they had no problem with RV passing Stewart under a Red Cross flag a couple years ago.

Shame for Dungey, but Roger is a class act as usual in explanation & decision to just take the hit and move on. Some team managers would have absolutely lost their heads about something like this.

I heard yesterday the riders have been ignoring the flags more than ever. Maybe this is related to that statement.

Anyone else get the vibe Jason Andersons camp was behind the original gripe?

If it were another rider like Stewart with this penalty most would be calling for his head on a stick.

It is not hard to believe that they have been doing that. The yellow basically means absolutely nothing and when and when not to bring out the red cross and how/where to display it is a coin toss also.

Jason said it wasn't them. I don't think Anderson would want a win like that.

I was told it was Yamaha camp who was bitching about rider/riders jumping during Red Cross flag.

It was initiated by the officials. One team manager inquired about it, but there was no protest from a team.

How can they penalize dunge if the flagger isnt going to make himself visible? He might as well been standing there waving a bar napkin with a red marker pen cross on it.

Its like putting speed limit signs behind a hedgerow. If i cant see it, does it exist? Hell no!
