Really cool bike.
I dont have a ton of experience on many different bikes. I dont like thumpers (ridden both 250f's & 450f's). Ive ridden mostly 125t's and 250t's. My point being, this isnt a review or anything credible, just my take on the bike.
The Aprilia wasnt ur average thumper i sounds way cooler and rev's for days. I had a real tough time keeping the front end down (but I only weigh 150) as I was going thru the gears.
I wish the AMA would lift the single cylinder rule as this tech should be explored imo.
The big downside was the weight tho. Lotta spinning parts and a high COG are this bikes weak points.
But boy was it fun to open up a bike with that much power. If any of you get a chance to ride one you should.

The Shop
V-Twin, hooks up surprisingly well, on the road it will pull past my KTM XCW 450 like I'm on a school bus.
Don't know if I would trust it in the Desert unless I had support. That said, with the type trail riding/Dual Sport riding we do here in NC, it has held up well (initial motor problems the dealer took care of) Fuel injection is cool, no problems from sea level to 6k ft.
Gotta be the baddest supermoto bike you could have.
I bought a KTM 'tard instead.
I think it is really interesting that someone has some different ideas and put them into production. Just because the japansese manufacturers do it one way does not mean iti s the best. e.g. if someone took the time and engineered a bike in which the piston moved parallel to the ground rather than up and down it would greatly reduce the wieght the rider feels. There are a ton of ideas out there, but so few willing to try, Kudos to Aprillia.
Pit Row
There were significant problems with them in '07. It sounds from what hear that they have addressed them with the 08 models. The fix for the 07's was dropping in the 08 motors and people seem to be happy with the fix.
For a little manufacturer they sure do stand behind their product. I know a guy who bought a TM supermoto and he has had nothing but problems with it. The Canadian importer was just a dick about it, and the factory said to deal with the importer.
I can understand why Aprillia made the V-twins, it's a great marketing move. Combined with the Supermoto and street stuff that can actually use loads of HP, it's brilliant.
