It was jaw dropping stuff . His racecraft is second to none right now and of course he has speed to spare . I think he could be stretching leads to a minute or more if he pushed the whole moto.

Look at the right hander after the big downhill when he railed the outside with both feet on the pegs! WTF!
And the right hander just before the finish line where he was the only one (I saw) jumping from the braking bumps all the way into the corner landing downside into the accelerating bump (with still both feet on the pegs). Exceptionally evident when he passed Marvin.

Poetry in motion!

The pass he put on Marv was unreal, glad I got to watch it. RV aggression with CP smoothness, crazy stuff

I was impressed with his ability to carve through the pack. I'm mostly just happy this didn't turn out worse.

Somebody asked me if I think Kenny has a TUE, at first I thought hell no but then I thought back to 24-0 Stew and figured I would've said hell no back then, too, and that 24-0 Stew is the closest comparison to Kenny's riding right now that I can think of. A detective doesn't believe in coincidence...

that's a badass shot!! it's just amazing he didn't wreck, to come back from around 20th to the lead in 2 laps was something i don't think i've ever seen, even Ricky or James. it was just unbelievable.

hey GuyB, i got together with Michael last week and he said he won't be at LL, are you planning on making the trip? I'll be there Fri and Sat watching Pierce

That's almost as crazy as what he did in the next lap and a half! On TV it happened so fast that I never realized how close that came to disaster!

He would have probably won despite crashing because Tomac was also just around 10th Whistling

It's pretty damn incredible that he managed to save that!

I hope he can keep this run of form up, it's awesome to watch. But even as a big Roczen fan I can't help but kinda wish Dungey was still around. He would have been a good benchmark..

Kroc is like Poto in his sense of urgency to get by............Tomac was in front of him around the area of the chadapult if you go back and watch.........then he pulled the trigger and passed guys 3 at a time while Tomac stuck around in 7th or 8th for a few laps............and he was out front and 3 or 4 second lead around 2nd lap...........one of his biggest strengths is that

I'm a big Ryan Dungey fan...but the way Kenny is riding right now, I seriously doubt that even a healthy RD would have much for him right now. He's definitely bumped up his game this year. I still think Ryan is the man to beat in SX, but it's hard not to bet on Roczen outdoors right now.

he must REALLY hate those forks to throw everything else away and go sign with Honda.................gotta be thinking about Tomac in the back of his head, minus the shoulder issues.........as far as switching bikes goes

Pretty sure Canard and Seely run the same KYB forks as KROC, on their Hondas?

I don't know the extent of his background, but he looks like someone who has done lots of off road riding or mountain biking while clipped in where feet on the pegs balance is necessary.

He tends to be comfortable standing with feet on the pegs where most riders have to sit and put their foot out. As a result, he is in a much stronger riding position that allows more speed.

Nailed it - I think "in the zone" is really the best way to describe what we are seeing. We saw it with Tomac the first few rounds last year, we saw it with Stew back in the day. To me it's interesting to see the ebb and flow. I mean, Tomac and Stew were both on the line, but they were nowhere near Kenny. It's that magical balance of talent, training, bike and (maybe most of all) CONFIDENCE.

Kenny literally made it look like he was cutting through the B class at a local race on that first lap. Unreal. Just unreal.

But a year from now, on a different bike, who knows, he might be the one getting dropped. I guess that's what makes this sport so fun to watch!

This probably explains much of his technique, and style in general.

It's a damn good race also btw Smile

You can also see that Herlings rides way more with his feet on the pegs than most other people.

As you can see from these video clips that were taken from my 1992 Volume 1 DVD #2 (The Rider and M/C Become One" video, I have been teaching to ride corners with the feet on the pegs for a long time. But that was for a practice drills, not while actually racing. I have always paid close attention to all the top rider's techniques and added them to my training schools and DVDs as new techniques have evolved. Now I have Ken's new feet on pegs through corners skills to study and understand all the details so I can add them to my coaching. I love it, it's kind of like surfing through the corners. I already know it takes a lot of perfection with the brakes, clutch and throttle, maintaining the center of balance with body movement and of course, confidence!
