Can someone please tell me why this bike is so poorly represented in the pro ranks. Too slow? Too old of technology? A nasty combo of the two?other outside factors maybe? P.S. Why is there no 250 Suzuki factory team, lack of funding?

I've often wondered the same thing. I think there are a few things. The bikes has been pretty much unchanged since 2012 and Suzuki has no amateur support. I rode a 2012 RMZ250 and really liked it minus the forks(they were horrible), but when all the other bikes keep changing and keep getting better it's hard to compete on a bike that is pretty much 3 or more years old.

Tell that to the 3 x 450 Suzuki riders in the top "6". You know, the ones riding a bike designed in 08 Laughing .

BTW, the 250 came out in 2010, they made slight changes to the frame and new front suspension in 2013.

It's all about the money. But things are about to change, there are rumours out there that we will see some kind of factory effort for the RM-Z250 next year.

Suzuki cut back when the the sport started dying. Shortly after four strokes took over. They are the smallest of the "big four" and it was probably a business decision to get them through a tough time. They will have a 250 team again next year by the sounds of it, and the RMZ250 is an excellent bike. No reason for a pro to ride one as there is/was no support.

I really hope they bring back a factory effort in the 250, would help the sport at that level IMO.

Parts cost to much for a privateer.

Someone posted a while ago, crf250 cases are half the price as rmz 250?

I often wonder why the 450 is "dated" by so many top pro's when they have their choice of bike to ride??????

Just because it's the same plastics does not mean it's the same bike people...the 450 got a new frame, forks, and more for '15. The 250 gets a new frame, forks, and more for '16. I guess they could just keep the bike the same and just put different plastics on to make you "morans" happy!!!!

I've ridden the bike and got impressed. Very fun and nice to ride. The forks weren't impressive though.

I was very near getting one a couple of years ago....the thing that scared me was the quality and reability.
You can clearly see that the Suzuki hasn't got the same quality as let say Honda and Yamaha...and you can feel it when you ride it in away.

The stories are out there with gearbox problems and electrical problems.

As MXA said many times....after 25 hours bike start to fade and loose power noticeably.

I really think this is something that scare away the privateers in pro racing as well. To much cost keeping the bike alive and top notch.

Hopefully they got things sorted out in 2016. Because this bike has so much potential.

Hi Tyler, you are F#CK 'en wrong mate.

YOU will find the yamaha yz250f has more power because of its backwards facing engine allowing more air to flow into the engine.

on a normal motorbike the air comes into the engine past the frame, the frame acts like a TROLL and blocks the air off a wee bit.

on the yamaha 250f the air comes from above, and flows in better, with no restriction and it makes more power.

This has to be a big part of it. Suzuki is ridiculous on their parts prices. I was just looking for a left side radiator for my RM250 and a radiator is $500 at Motosport. Retail is over $600.

99% of all parts that would ever need to be replaced on a Suzuki dirt bike are available aftermarket, including radiators.

Oh, I know. Many people had valve issues for the most part. I was 200+ pounds racing 125A on that thing. Don't know how I got so lucky.

Don't go orange then. My old RMZ was better built and way cheaper for parts than any of my pumpkins (went 2t so not much choice)

Ok, so if they do have a contingency program, does it suck, or is it pretty good, from what I have seen, they do have a program, I just don't know much about it.
