It came to my attention that Ronnie Renner has only ever broken one (maybe two?) bones in his whole entire racing/riding career. Is this true?!

Got me thinking, are there other riders out there who escaped their riding careers relatively unscathed? Not that Renner's career is over, I just figured there are probably other riders out there who are less prone to crashing/injuries than others. Maybe those are the people we want to speak on our behalf as ambassadors to making our sport safer??

And no, I haven't read ALL the other posts about making our sport safer, so maybe this has been discussed already.

Has Roczen missed races due to injury before this in the US? Because I can't recall he missing any in europe(as a pro, dunno as an amateur)

R.C and Mcgrath had a pretty clean sheet, Think Mcgrath had a few when he was part time though.

Bayle. RC had a rough beginning but did remarkably well on the 450s, especially considering how loose he was on the bike.

RC must have been made out of crazy putty for as many times as he crashed and walked away,

I was going to say close to the same. I've seen RC many times absolutely crash his freaking brains out at speed, and get back on the bike, and continue. They say racing involves a great amount of luck...

No kidding, sometimes it seems like RC and James have metal skeletons covered in rubber.

RC's stature, same with James, really helps. Little dudes can tuck and roll. It helps to be in ridiculously good shape.

Stewart rag dolls. Lays there for a few seconds and everyone thinks he's dead then he pops back up and walks off the track.

I think you're right though, Shorty seems to be lined up at every single race without injury

Mike Brown, not sure specifics but has stayed pretty much injury free. Biggest reason he has such staying power.

MC has had a couple fairly large injuries. Dislocated hip comes to mind and didn't he also break his back or something along those lines just a few years ago? Both of those guys have probably ridden through many injuries that we never heard about. Short has been out injured many times. Broken leg just a few years ago. I honestly don't think you'll find any pro that hasn't been pretty badly injured once or twice. I have a buddy who is a pretty decent intermediate rider in his younger twenties. Raced since on 50s and has never once been injured racing MX. Bumps and bruises of course, but no real injuries. Blows my mind.

I have a feeling that Stewarts injuries are understated since he never visits the Asterisk medical unit. . . I hope I'm wrong but I could see him with a few Brett Favreish type of complaints when he turns mid to older 30's.

That's the positive of being shaped like a rubber ball.

He missed one round of outdoors, I think his rookie 250mx year, when he yarded off I think the Ski Jump at Red Bud. Knocked himself out and missed one round I believe. Besides his colarbone in SX, I think that's all for Dungey.

I'm not positive of year or track, but I think I'm on point.

I don't understand how Stewart or RC did not break into a million pieces every time they slammed the ground.

My being short never kept me from breaking.

collarbone. 2013?? I believe he missed two rounds. (maybe one)

He's the first guy that came to mind when I read the title of this thread.

I think that is one of the things that impresses me the most about Dungey.......he's able to ride the same pace as everyone and win races throughout each season without crashing much, if at all. Everyone else seems to have their fair share of the crashes and injuries......but he keeps on truckin.....ahhhhhhh, I think I get the whole "The Diesel" thing now.

Dungy also broke a collarbone in 2007 I think at Unidilla.

Jlaw never got hurt that I recall.

Mcgrath broke his leg early in his career, then at the end had many accidents.

Jeff Emig was fairly injury free till that episode when he got fired from Kawi. Down hill after that. both arms, came back and then back

Broc Glover was relatively injury free til the end of his career

Larry Ward was mostly injury free too

.
