When was the last time RC was in the booth?
I thought the announcing is getting better.
I even like Ralph now!

Or it may just be that I am just as obnoxious and do not see the problem

Tour de France commentators Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen excel at filling voids with insightful, engaging conversation. The Tour remains a 4 hour snooze-fest, riddled with moments of excitement. Phil and Paul's ability to command the viewers' attention for hours on end is second to none.
Here's a question: if you were given the opportunity to sit in the broadcast booth during a race, would you do it? Could Feld or NBC Sports hold a "fan in the booth" contest? The afternoon's qualifiers could determine the winner's ability to hold his or her own, and their performance during the night show would determine their tenure in the booth. Hey, if a couple of high school drop-outs can do it, how hard can it be? It's not like millions of viewers will judge your every sentence or anything.
On a side note, Langston does an awesome job on the arenacross broadcast.
But that is a stupid question. That's the same as saying could you hit that quad? Nope. The teams hire the best people they can with the best shot at winning, hence the reason Ricky always had a job wherever someone could afford him and provide him with a factory bike.
The booth should be no different. That is the top announcing job in the sport with the most people watching and FELD/Monster/Speed/Fox1 or whoever puts those guys in their should hire the best person for the job period otherwise the broadcast will not be as good as it could of been. If you put me in the booth holy cow I wold get slaughtered on here but I know better than to apply for it or accept a job that I cannot perform to expectations. That's one reason Emig deserves so much respect he has worked very hard to become a professional announcer where as RC shows up and seems to "wing" it. Maybe RC practices hard at announcing and we don't know it but he comes up short for sure same we all did in our moto careers! We all practiced hard but our career wasn't what RC's was. He just isn't ready for it at this time. Maybe in the future.
Kinda like Erv. You ask me well can you do better? Nope. But Rocket Rob could. Why isn't he in there?
RC was an amazing MX/SX racer...he is not a sports announcer. Period.
Give the boys some slack.

Also, are RC and Fro "the best", or do they simply have broad name recognition and a passing ability in the booth? There are several retired racers who would likely perform better behind the mic, but they do not have multiple titles or longevity in the sport. Jim Holley's name is frequently batted about as possible fill-in, yet he doesn't get the call. Why? Because Jeremy and K-Dub's phones are ringing first.
So let's ask again: if you were given a chance to sit in the booth, would you take it?
I think MC and RC in the the booth with Fro would be quite the combination. Bye Ralph.
Jeremy is a monster guy too, and for whatever reason Ricky has been away change is sometimes good, but he'll be back for sure.
