What would be a bigger marketing/sales success than this? I doubt anything could top it, and Honda would be the darling of the MX world for years! Remember, perception is a very important factor, and to be the saviour of smokers would make the perception of Honda very favorable. So what if crfs sell more, make it a trail bike ala yzx/KTM xc and race them off road only so it doesn't affect the crf line. Those who want to race one can convert it over to a more MX setup. Get rid of the crf450x, its too heavy anyways.

Politicians are overpowered by the accountant, and enough money will change anyone's minds. Besides, emissions matter little on closed course race bikes, and are hardly considered in the design of bikes like yzf, crf, and really any "red sticker" bike for that matter. Hell, a lean fuel map, too small end cap on exhaust, and quarter turn throttle tube is all that u need to please the politicians( and almost everyone removes that crap from a wrf immediately anyways).

Suzuki got caught doing it on rmx450s at the dealer, ( removing the emissions controls and tame mapping).lol. That pissed off someone. Leave that stuff to the aftermarket, they'll handle it.

Its funny because both the Harley and miss piggy remind me.of the four stroke credo: loud and heavy lol.

Honda's position on any style or stroke of motorcycle is to paraphrase GM in the 70's. "We will decide what the public wants to buy/ride". Not that I have corporate knowledge of Honda's position. It is my perception and actual results may vary.

For the record, love my yzf450 (14 model) endless power and wheelies lol. Would've for sure bought a two stroke if one was as advanced as the fours are.

Maybe Honda cycled out a generation of engineers and the new school is playing around. A patent is a long way from the production line. Pretty exciting though. Hope its not a PR troll
