Remove red piece of plastic VP Jug

So I just bought a VP Jug and i wanna attach a hose to it. Problem is I don't know how to get this dumb red piece of plastic out of the cap:


Any help?

I have always used a 1/2" drive ratchet or extension. I'm pretty sure that's what size it is.

You remove that in California they send out a warrant, 3 years in prison, $2000 fine and your local shop will be put under investigation

Give a 3 year old a toy screwdriver and that cap and they will get the red plug out for you within the hour.

Fill the jug with gas and replace the cap. Use a propane torch to heat the cap up. Poke and pry at the red piece with a pick while the torch flame is held just above the cap. Should come right out.
