I can't remember what video it was in, but he said it around 2007 when RC was doing his farewell tour. I have a feeling we've seen the last of James.Sad

A lot can change in 9 years. I feel that Stewart appreciates his fans more now than he did in 2007

This.

This was pre-2010 James when he really was TFMOTP. Hoping against hope he gives it one last try.

At this point no one knows anything. He could be done he could be racing. He's on Geico aka Suzuki aka he's doing this on his own dime aka retiring.

J law story of the day. He was at my house with my uncle. I asked him what he thought of Ryan and he said "dung is a bitch" then the following year he won the SX title.

He did pretty dang good in SX 2014. Not sure if he can still find that kind of fire in his belly again. Or if his mind is even in a good enough place to try. I hope so because these past 2.5yrs have been a complete train wreck. And I'd like to see him leave this sport on a high note....not this mess.

With the credentials, accomplishments, basically inventing a riding technique that you can't win without being able to do now, if he never shows up to a race again, these past two shitty years will be easily and soon forgotten in comparison to all the high notes he's had in the sport. Look how quickly everyone is forgetting RV's MXDN performances.

I still love Stew......one of the all time greats.

Short career domination window due to other all time greats being in their prime and peaking when he peaked.

Of course he is done. It is almost November and he doesn't have a ride. I would highly doubt he has been working out to get ready for the season. If he wasn't motivated last year after his year off then he never will be motivated. Hey I wish he would work his butt off to get back to being a threat to win races because it would make the series a lot more exciting but it has been so long since he has been relevant. I don't see him having the drive he did 8-10 years ago.

James may not be as financially secure as he was anticipating, nine years ago. I wouldn't put much stock into what he said during RC's retirement tour.

James has massive amounts of talent, one of the best ever. One of the saddest stories ever.
I don't think anyone in the sports history has had a worst group of losers advising them. He has had the worst PR in the game no one ever knows what's going on he seems like a huge flake. Way too many concussions the drug thing the fake cop thing bouncing from team to team. Thanks for the scrub bub!
Oh wait Ricky was already doing that. He just didn't name it.

This post is one of the saddest stories ever.

James Stewarts life seems like it's overall been a pretty good time compared to the real SAD STORIES of mx.

Expectations never fully pan out but sometimes what is left is still pretty awesome.

Alot of people who post in james threads never respect this.

or his stats.. and thats a fact

always speculation about his financial security.. Im pretty damn sure he made alot of money.. if josh hansen made 1 mill+ back in his time with ktm (no championships).. im sure james has made double or triple that per year or even more. pretty damn sure he's financially secure

you don't win 7-titles and end up broke in this sport

He could be ready for A1 if he wanted. There is 80 days to go. It's probably more a matter that he doesn't need to. Has a new baby at home. I doubt he is as broke as some would like us to believe.

Does anybody remember when Tom Cruise was talking to James about a movie about his life? There was a lot of buzz. James ended up dropping it because they were going to portray motocross racers and fans as racists, and that was going to be the main storyline for the movie. That really impressed me because he chose the health of the sport over his wallet.
He has been a massive lift and asset to the sport so I hate to see him go. Do you think Tom Cruise is interested in making a movie about Ryan Dungey or Eli Tomac? Nothing against them but James' story is incredible.
