Well I was watching YouTube archive races (as usual) and I stumbled across milleville '02 125cc. The race which was the following race from Dilla when bubbs pulled the Shenanigans on Reed by slowing down and allowing Chad to pass him just to immediately repass him to make him look silly. Sure, Bubba made him look dumb by doing that to him, but I think this was awesome how reed came out the following week and beat Stewart straight up(which I never thought happened before it was a surprise to me) check this straight up whopping Reed put on #259. Catching , passing , and pulling away from 259. Revenge is a B!:&$.

You made a thread about Reed beating a 125cc 2-stroke with a 4-stroke in the sand?

Meh.

Against the greatest rider to ever throw a leg over a 125.

And they weren't as good as they were now either.. That thing was pretty heavy

Get your facts straight, Champ. Reed went 35-5 the following week. Washougal was the week after Dilla, and James won that (Larry Ward did win the first moto though...hell yeah!) . A week after Washougal, Reed won one moto at Millville, but James won the overall and went on to win the title by 138 points. Not sure what revenge you're talking about, but I don't think it has a basis in a thing called reality.

Just keep watching 125 Mx series all the way to 2004. You won't be disappointed. Ther is one race James starts dead last comes all the way though the field and wins. 04 was the best in I think. there were only a few 125's on the gate.

Yeah, works Yamaha's are known for their weight/performance issues.

Whatever the weight limit is(was?), that thing was right on it. Don't kid yourself.

Nope. Matthes said they were cheering if they got below 235. Weight limit in 02 was lower than that.

You're not a 12 year old who thinks twice the displacement on a four-stroke = twice the power of a two stroke are you?

250Fs back then wouldn't have matched the peak horsepower of the 125s.

02 was such a good season. How could anyone forget? Bubba rode even better the following week... Reed rode a lot worse. I remember seeing him in person get into it with Ryan Huffman in the second moto and thinking "The wheels done fell off!".

Then Reedy came back like a champ and killed it the next round. Epic season!

Watch at 13:35 how hard Reed pulls Stewart

James was a machine on a 125....I'm pretty sure he wrote the book on momentum.

Until he got on a 450....personally I think James was a machine on a 2 stroke...period.Having watched James race his entire career its not the same james, watching him ride a 450 and not be able to wring it out and throw the bike around overriding and just ripping through corners oh and that crazy body english he used on the 2 stroke is what made him unbelievable. Hes still out of this world on a 450 but its not the same "Bubba" which he dropped when he got on the 450. he has been phenomenal on the 450 nonetheless, but if they had never switched to 4 strokes.....dude...he wouldve crushed that sx win record and call me crazy but be closer to 90-100 wins by now IMO

Im sure plenty will disagree but James talent really shined on the 2 stroke more so bec of how much better of a "rider" he was whereas the 450 definitely allowed some people riders with less natural talent to shine (nobody in particular just a blanket statement)

How refreshing to watch a race from Millville and not hear about the Martins every 10 minutes..

How good of a drinking game would that make though, every time they mention the Martins owning and growing up at Millville you have a shot. You would be shit faced after that.

For the record, before some Martin super fan takes a swing for me, I have nothing against any of them, just the broadcast with their constant reminders of who owns that place wear thin after the first 30 minutes of watching it..

Remember when all the Stewart fans said Bubba was going to destroy all of Carmichael's outdoor national records?

Ahhhh the 2002 Millville national. I remember it pretty good. Ol John Martin put the clamps down hard on booze. Especially when your 17 and was one of a few cars that got the booze pass the border patrol. One and only possession of alcohol, mugshot, and parents having to drive 3.5 hours to the track to pick up their under age son at 3am. Ahh 2002 Millville was great. Never got to actually see the pros that year. Arm band was cut and parents were not happy

Ok, the way I remember JS's last season on a 125 was basically like this. He would get an almost dead last start against a gate of mostly 250f's, which obviously had a huge horsepower advantage against his 125. JS would then fly threw the pack and pass everyone to win. This was basically every moto. Except the last race of the season when Stewart rode a 250f. In that race he started up front both motos and destroyed everyone. His one and only time racing a 250f (that I remember anyway).

Nice catch. That's what I call trusting your tires. He railed that berm.

MX/SX misses these kinds of rivalries. Dear Cooper Webb, please take notes and form a great rivalry this season.

I get the impression he had a lot more fun when he was riding the 125 and that's what made him ride better. Whenever he was interviewed during his 125 days he used to be smiling and had a bit of swagger about him.
When he moved up to the 250 class, I feel he lost the 'fun' factor. He was completely poker faced during interviews and I don't ever remember seeing him smile during interviews since moving up.

Nevermind all those differences between racing a two stroke and a four stroke.
