Chad mentioned twice figuring out what "the brand" would be for 2018-2019. Is that a hint he might be on a different bike or was he speaking of the "Chad Reed 22" brand.

Either way, he's clearly not happy and clearly not happy with the factory Yamaha.

No worries mate. I noticed he was mentioning up to 2019, but after this year I/everyone would surely be questioning it.
He must be a stubborn bastard

He got a podium this year and people claim he should retire...then scream "bring back bubba". I don't want this to become a Stewart thread or anything but doesn't it seem contradictory to say that Reed should retire when he has been proven to still be capable of podiums yet try to keep riders around or bring back riders who haven't done even that? Just my thoughts. I'm sure Reed is not happy but that's all the proof I need that he still has fire in him to succeed and if he has that, why should he retire?

Shocker..... Reed is not happy. In other news, today it has been discovered that President Trumps hair is indeed a comb-over..... these top stories and weather coming straight your way at 10.

And, he's still fast enough to block the f out of the "leaders" when he's being lapped...if he wants to. That's important.

I actually like that he's not happy. I'm not a huge fan of his but I can definitely respect that he is never satisfied unless he is contending for wins. He isn't a sit around and ride in 10th kinda guy.

Once I was saying "do we really need another year of Nick Wey"?

This saying now applies to Bad Seed (aka Chad Reed)

But Chad seems to always hint that the problem is with his surroundings instead of himself, but he carefully will never say the bike, the techs or Yamaha Corp. is to blame. Damn...I'll bet Yamaha is wondering why they dropped such huge coin on this guy when all he does is pout and is never happy. Hope he finds another "plan" that will work for him next year.

Wonder what Yamaha's "plan" for 2018 is?

When is the last time he blamed himself?
5/5/2017 9:18am
I hated Chad when he was young and cocky. I liked him as he aged, especially after starting 22 and getting factory support. But, at some point, you have to look in the mirror and stop blaming the team/bike. They can't all be bad. Or if they are, ride the damn thing anyway. I was at East Rutherford and he didn't even look like he was trying.

I remember hearing him complain about the weight of the yamaha. I guess its sub par all around compared to other bikes.

Been a long time Reed fan but now I am over his sx only - getting lapped every race - factory bike riding - blame it on everything but himself attitude. He should stare at these pictures and own that the problem is with himself not the Factory bike.

I guess that's what happens when you get your ass kissed by everyone for going on two decades now. Sadly it seems like the self reflection needed to realize HE is the only constant factor in his recent disappointments is utterly beyond his reach. He 100% believes his own bullshit. Which people can tolerate when you're winning, but now he's just looking pathetic.

You guys can bag on him all you want and have done so but a comfortable Chad Reed on the right bike with the right set up can still easily compete for top 5 in supercross for sure still even at this stage in his career.

However, getting the perfect bike, the perfect settings, and the perfect mindset and attitude for him seems like all the moons in the sky need to align perfectly.

The current YZ450 may be a fine bike for us normies but for top level guys it has really had a poor success rate. You can't argue that fact.

Chad, look in the mirror and stop blaming every brand you are on for your struggles. He used to be the guy who could just power through it and deal with whatever was wrong. His confidence was high and nothing could stop him. Now..oh well this isn't right change it, that isnt' right change it, change it back, change it again....chasing settings. Find something and ride it. He is one of the most talented riders but when he is down mentally he is defeated before the gate drops.

chad has ALWAYS been particular about his setup and getting the bike to do what he wanted. its also known the yz450f has a narrow margin for getting the setup right at differing tracks, where as a say, the rmz you can almost set it and forget it.

curious as to where he will go. back to suzuki? to jgr? MCR? maybe ktm?

not many places will want an aged sx only guy. I like chad and i think he still has the magic to be a podium threat but i cant imagine there being a team that can afford him.

KTM: No way
MCR: Can you see Reed & Tony Alessi bumping heads? Blink
JGR: They've been around that mountain!
Suzuki: RCH? Hmmmmm....maybe.
