Looks like enough people ended up with broken spokes. I kept hearing of the problem being with rear wheel spokes loosening and breaking but this recall is for the front wheel only.

At least they fess up and fix the issues. Haven't had any issues with my 2013 other than the throttle cable fix but have been told by many as well as my dealer that KTM stands behind their stuff.

It wasn't stated in the article but want to clarify. This recall does not include the 2015 Factory Edition, correct?

That isn't correct. I think you are referring to 2015FE's. (2015.5)

I'm hoping its for the 15.5 Fe's, my buddy's '16 350 rear wheel blew to pieces 2 weeks ago. From what I have dealt with I would assume they will. I have the 450 with 8 hours, the T hose that fits between the radiators in the frame literally broke and leaked coolant, this is after dealing with other cooling hose issues such as the exhaust burning a hole in my lower radiator hose. They have sent me back up hoses and replaced everything, now they are sending a updated (2016) radiator to fix my issue and even said a new head pipe will be sent if the problem isn't resolved. All done through the dealer of course but they are doing everything they can, earned my respect at least.

I have a '16 450 and have to tighten my rear spokes all the time, especially the ones closest to the rimlock. The front I haven't had problems with yet, but they do seem really thin looking.

I'm confused, are you saying the 2015.5 factory editions do or don't have the recall with the wheels?

They could use rebar for spokes and still be pretty light bikes. I've actually had ppl at the track comment on how thin they look, but I chalked it up to being an illusion from them being powder coated black. Oh well, I hope this is a fix.

They should not be effected by this recall to the best of my knowledge.

Your dealer can confirm for sure. But I think we are exempt.

If they are the same part number, they should be. Look it up.

There seem an awful lot of them at the off road races for some reason. Must be part of the allure of the discipline. You know, adventuresome type people that carry a bunch of tools and haven't had fun unless they've had to replace their crank bearings on the side of the trail. You've met the type. They'll stop to help fix YOUR bike just so they can show off their tool kit and mechanical ability. They know every piece of your orange pile because they just had theirs down to the frame less than an hour ago. Must be gluttons for punishment. Takes all kinds though.....

I was wrong, the tweet I saw was deleted and then they said its all of the 2016 SX/SX-F and TC/FC models.

There is also a recall on KTM 125 and 150 for having cracks in the engine cases. Doesnt say what year, just says based on VIN #

Regardless, I have never received such amazing customer service from a dealer or manufacturer. Thanks Houston Motorsports and KTM!

Why do some feel the need to pile on KTM? They developed, tested and produced some very nice, light weight dirt bikes. Which have shown to have a problem with spokes and are standing behind it. The problem could be KTM's engineering or a manufacturing issue or a sub-standard spool of wire that the spokes were made from. To just pile on "KTM" as the problem is ignorant.

There was time that when you signed on the ownership papers at the dealer, the bike was totally your responsibility. Something not right? You go back the OEM or Dealer and get this: "HAHAHAHAHA, that there is a race bike son. We don't fix nothing on race bikes".

When you try to take weight off of a bike you run this risk.

They may have just found their limit.

I never said you were piling on at all.

Trust me, I understand completely.

I think every manufacture has an issue at some point. And for various different reasons.

This is what happens when you push the weight savings. You find the limits. Like others have said, at least KTM corrects the issues. When I got my 2011 250SX, the handle bar caps were cracking...so they sent out new ones that were a little thicker.
