Mechanics get frustrated too. I'm sure Joey is frustrated by the mistakes too.
Joey's small mistakes of tip overs have cost him a realistic chance at this title. His big crash at RedBud came from trying to get back to the front after crashing out of the lead. 50 points down with 200 points available is a tough ask.
Joey crashed out of 2nd, so his mechanic wrote "REALLY DUDE" on the pit board, and the TV cameras caught it. It has to be frustrating for them all, especially considering the clutch ride he put in in Vegas.
Your opinion, so that is fine. In my opinion, maybe they have a good relationship and joke around. People have different personalities and maybe cracking a joke would help loosen him up. We do stuff like that all the time and work in a pretty high tense atmosphere. I didn't get to watch the race, so I don't know how bad the crash was. Horrible crash, yeah that comment is probably out of line, but a tip over is another story.
Kinda jumping to conclusions on the last part though....I have no idea if it was him or not, but I don't think you can make that conclusion from a pit board statement.
Saw that also "really dude", maybe they have a good sense of humor over there, If I got a pit board like that I think it would just motivate me more but i am sure i would be laughing under my helmet, so maybe that is what he needs, some times pushing it just doesn't work. A mistake like dumping it in a corner like that is just painful all the way around. still laughing about that one, we need to have a thread on best pit board messages
Suppose in someways it is just sayin it as it is...
Also depends on the setup they have- maybe they often 'talk straight like that' with each other?
Also guess it may even fire Joey up to make some passes and try to get better position back.
His mechanic has a real chip on his shoulder. I've met the guy several times. It's a well known thing over there..
He's a class act. One of the nicest guys around. I knew him back in his C class hero days, then Mike Alessi practice mechanic, Markolf bros, and Les Smith.
Never once heard him complain. I can't imagine living with the Alessi clan during the "Universe will get you" days. Dear god what a terrible job. Millions of practice starts and listening Tony Alessi's wisdom 24/7.
Then straight to the Markolf bros who were just starting out at the time... Back then they were the stuff of nightmares.. Devil incarnate.. Wreaked havoc and destruction every day.
Those were some real 'character building' jobs, so I'm sure he might carry a little chip on his shoulder today.
He had 2 really hot twin sisters back then too, which is an asset when you're letting teams know what you'll bring to the table every weekend.

mind expanding on the markolf comment? I don't know them personally, just as local guys

Nothing specific..
Before they lived at Club, they would go to a lot of races with us and ride at the shop in Blacksburg during the week..
They are wild.. Extra wild back then, because they were just starting out and having fun.
Trick Tank crew + Markolfs wasn't the most ideal scenario for a mechanic.
Great kids. Their dad is awesome. Mom is awesome. Miss those days...
Remember this one from last week? Funny typo:

That wasn't a typo. It originally said last lap pussy on the board but Eric gass said he thought the cameras would see it and people would get pissed so he erased the y. All of this according to him on pulp last week

Thats hilarious! I really thought he was just writing "push" but was in a hurry, makes it even funnier

"Take up golf. You suck!!!"
He made up 8 spots on the next lap.

"Does your wife ride, too?"
