He was hauling on the 450 at the mxdn, should be a threat for wins if not more

Yep!

That is a smart pick up for Kawi, I think he is going to surprise a lot of people.

Mr. Consistency. He will probably be smoother on the 450.

Dungey has some more competition! From a walk in a park to a marathon running against a bunch of africans!

I'm sure you meant no harm, but for the record, James isn't African.

I think Tyla will be in the hunt for the championship.. the 450 may suit him even better than the 250. He is big and strong and fast outdoors.

Finally! We're going to get to see what Tyla can do on the 450 at last. He was definitely impressive at the MXdN. IMO he'll be the best of the rest, and mixing it up with Stewart and Dungey on a consistent basis.

Exactly what Tyla needed, a Factory 450 ride. He's already very comfortable on green. VERY smart of Team Kawasaki. Tyla will shine, and maybe put Whiner out of a job?

Tyla is solid outdoors and always near the front. He will probably sneak in a moto win here and there, because his fitness is unreal.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Tabs Tyla Rattray to Contend for the AMA 450cc Motocross Championship
Irvine, Calif. – Monster Energy Kawasaki enters the 2012 AMA Pro Motocross Championship as the reigning championship team. In defending champion Ryan Villopoto’s absence, Tyla Rattray will compete along side Jake Weimer in the 450cc class aboard a Monster Energy Kawasaki KX™450F. Rattray, a former World Champion, finished second overall in the 250cc Motocross Championship last summer and finished second overall in the MX1 classification at the 2011 FIM Motocross of Nations.

“We are excited to welcome Tyla to the team,” said Reid Nordin, Monster Energy Kawasaki Senior Manager. “He has proven to be a contender for a national championship each and every year, and we are confident he can put Kawasaki up front this summer.”

Rattray has spent the last two weeks preparing for the outdoor season and is excited about the opportunity to race for Monster Energy Kawasaki on the championship proven KX450F.

“I’m pumped to race the 450cc class with Monster Energy Kawasaki,” said Rattray. “I know both the team, and the bike can win championships. I couldn’t be more thankful to everyone allowing me to have this opportunity.”

The 2012 AMA Pro Motocross Championship kicks off with the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento, Calif., May 19th, 2012.

Good move, and I agree with the sentiment that he will win a few motos and be very consistent.

Good to hear Tyla got a big boy bike. I hope Weimer (notice the spelling) steps up his game the same as he did in SX this year. I thought his progression this year was great.

Very cool, will be interesting to see how he stacks up? Personally I feel he could be either "the man" or as one being someone constantly outside the top three? Don't know where I have him at all...

I've always thought this guy needed to be on a 450.
He just looked a bit big for that PC 250(kinda like Wilson and Tomac do now).
He'll definitely be trouble for Dungey & Stewart.

I've thought that since he was racing GPs, especially places like Lommel. He always looked like he wanted more from the bike than it could give.

I seriously hope he has a damn good summer on that Fo' Fiddy! We need some great talent added to that class.
I think last year was his strongest yet so, let's hope he builds on that coupled with a smooth transition to the big bike.
Would make for better races that's for sure.

It's about time he moved up. He should be a top 3 guy in the championship series.
