Nothing special.
Things change from time to time.
Both are doing their jobs well.

Hey Alan, do you keep up with who the trainers are of the top guys?

Lets say RV, Dungey, Hill, Millsaps

and Pourcel, Weimer, Canard, Barcia

I was struck by the visual dichotomy of RL in primp and proper Team Kawi gear last season and this season in flannel, jeans and skull beanie at the races.

It's way to hard for Alan to do that because they change trainers once a week.

There are quite a few trainers in the sport now, even at the amateur level you are seeing an influx.
As with any profession there are different levels of trainers and the disciplines vary greatly.
What is correct for one athlete (from the trainers point of view) may not be the best program for the next athlete.
If the athlete has the internal motivation to succeed it is not difficult to bring about the condition to be able to do well.
What is difficult is to find the specific area in the athlete that is not allowing success (distractions, partying, "friends", girl friends, overbearing parents, previous injuries, psychological/behavioral issues and many other areas).
Champions have trained in many different ways: cardio only, riding only, strength, power, muscle endurance, functional training etc. etc. and any combination of the aforementioned.
In reality there is NO magic program that will work for everyone. Just because RC's program works for him does not mean it will work for another rider. So be careful to not follow who is winning, as you may be changing from week to week depending on who is on the box. Find a trainer that believes in you and you believe in. This bond is the deciding factor everything else being equal.
Sorry for the long post and a little off track from the question.
