That is a good deal for you man. You dodged a 24.99 percent bullet.

So if they sell your two trade in bikes for near current retail used prices, they made $1500 on that deal after paying off the loan, and hung you for five years on a used MX bike?

You sure that is a good deal?

Pay it off early if possible, you might even consider using CC with teaser rates (no interest, etc ) and juggle until you pay it off w/o paying any interest.

A 5 year loan on a dirtbike?

Sounds like you got a decent deal with them paying off your Kaw.. unless both bikes you traded were used to pay it off. Financing toy's is a dangerous habit

I think it's a little late to give an opinion on whether it's a good deal and I don't think Devin is asking for it.

so the bike shop shoudn't make money on the deal ?

i think it is the part where he still owed a lot on the KX that needs to be taken into consideration... like he maybe only had a few hundred worth of equity in it or possibly even upside down the way dirtbikes depreciate... We also don't know if he still owed on the streetbike.

In any case, he's the one that put it all out here so i would say no, it is not a "little late".
Obviously his financial transaction aren't personal to him so i would guess this really doesn't bother him...

He somehow ditched a Kaw, at 25% for Honda at 7%, seems worth at least 1500 to me Tongue

Your argument is based on speculation that somebody will pay retail for a used bike in this economy. The OP has a factual argument that he escaped an unsecured credit card rate of 24.99%

no, his "argument" is based on his incorrect assumption that the KX was paid off.

Was 90% sure yesterday I'd be keeping my 09 KX450 for next year, but today at work my coworker had just bought an '11 CRF450, told me about the sweet loan deal Honda had instead of the credit card I had from Kawi. I still owe quite a bit on mine and it goes to 24.99% in January, so I went and signed the deal on a leftover '10 CRF450, with my 450 and 2000 ZR750 as a trade. Got my kawi card balance of $5,999 payed off, and a 5 year 6.99% loan from honda with my payments being $18 over what i was paying on my Kawi. Feel pretty damn good about it!

Also, the bike was the one we lent out to Andrew Short to ride when he taught a FCA mx camp nearby, so I got his autographed plastic, and the salesman really wanted to keep his autographed gear for display in the store, but I might try talking him into also giving that to me and see if I can't donate it for auction for Doug Henry if there is one (haven't looked at any details about that yet)
Would your buddy that got the 11 crf450 be A. R. ?

yessir. And I'm completely happy with what they gave me for my Kawi 450. I would have been LUCKY to sell it outright for a few hundred more. They won't make much money off of it. They also gave me $200 more than what my street bike books for, but I'm sure they'll sell it for way more than that. Street bikes always go for more. They will likely make a little change on that. But, it saved my ass as far as interest goes. And I don't have that kind of financial swing to just buy a new 450 with cash... so yes I feel I got a fair deal. I'd say I was a few hundred dollars off of a stellar deal, but I'm okay with that.

My friend rode his '11 today and loved it, and he's had 3 bikes in the past year and ridden about 2 others too, went from a yz250 to an 09 YZ450 to an 07 RMZ450 and had spun a few laps on a 10 KX450 and a 09 KTM450.

Me? Don't have mine yet, gotta bring my bikes in tomorrow and sign the final papers, and see if they'll let me swap my day off so I can go rip on it for the last day we'll have near 50 degrees til spring most likely.
