The layout is fine, it just needs to be scaled down and tightened up - substantially.
Just watch , next it will be someone doing up the old Hitler staff meeting video about how the new site sucks...
Why fix something that is not broken. The only positive is the it adapts to all devices
I was a fan of the old one, it was so easy to log on and see all the latest news, latest updates and features for the day without touching a button and if you missed logging on for a day just scroll down a little and there was yesterday's updates.
Now you log on see one feature four news articles and a video unless you want to go for a scroll. I guess in this social network age people are used to scrolling down the page to see older news, guess it will be the same with web sites. Though personally myself I very rarely scroll down a page very far if at all, must be getting old lol.
A lot of the sites are going this way, guess it is either a matter of getting used to them.
The good thing with the RacerX site though, at least with the new layout if you are a scroller you can keep scrolling down and see everything that has been posted for at least the last two weeks without hafting to up to the menu up the top and start searching.
If I miss Monday Conversation this week, I at least have two weeks to catch and read it
Hopefully it grows on me.

Blame Weege. He is the online editor
but I love Weege. I'm not blaming him
I do like the simplicity of the layout using three category columns for Features / Latest News / Videos. Like Klootzat said, you'll get used to it and like it better before you know it. A lot of thought goes into layout revamps like these and they're for the better -- the old one for example was a turd on iPad and to a lesser extent phones.
I like it. It's a pretty cool design and very responsive. I think it's much, much worse for skimming and finding articles now that it's stretched out and you have to scroll down a zillion times (instead of just flipping through their features/news boxes.) But this layout will make them way more money, I'm sure the old way was not getting enough eyeballs around the rest of the site.
Full screen on the computer.. there's just too much stuff going on...
I don't envy the person employed to deal with all the alerts though.
Great intuitive design, works like a charm here
