That's awesome. I'd love to be able to race the Baja 1000 some day.

One cannot fully appreciate the speed these baja guys go until you've seen a section in person. Total badassery, fo sho.

It's on my bucket list to make it to Baja and see some of this legendary race! Hope RV does well and returns next year as well!

Haha I thought it'd be on a bike! He's smart, if I did baja I'd probably do it in a truck as well. Cool he's doing anything motor and race related though.

I mean, if you had his kind of money, it's only common sense to buy a trophy truck and whip it around!!

That's awesome he's racing a car in Baja. Maybe he will sign up for a Desert Assassins Rip to Cabo or Trail of Missions?

A bike is crazy. Too many chances a boobie trap or something spectator made kills you. Or you get mugged, robbed, or shot.

Not much safer in a truck either.
It amazes me that America has lost interest in the MXDN (yes it is Des) but they at least dont try to kill people in those sketchy countries but people dont remember long about the baja crap.

Coming home alive is a win. The race isnt even an obstacle.

LOL trust me, the race is an obstacle, every spectator I went by when I rode the 500 smiled and waved, multiple kids held out water bottles, most spectators are respectful and stay out of the way.

The heat and the sudden terrain changes are the real killer, and the cows, keep your goddamn head up for cows

And you know we're already working on that!

Not to mention a certain current SX racer riding down there...this coming season...probably have to take him down to Santa Rita just to show him what real Whoops look like!

Brrrrraaaaap!

It's not actually 'Des'. It was officially changed to 'of' quite a long time ago.

Rich is utilizing his "Old-School Waiver".

There was a time when real men raced the Trophee and Moto...des...Nations.

Glad to see him going the full-race route, rather than using a production Raptor in the desert. Smile

Good for RV. Ive always felt that dirt bike racers should stay in the dirt. guys who've made the switch to street never do well enough.

Wonder if we'll see him get into LOORS or Rallycross, im sure Monster has a big interest in keeping him in some form of racing

I think it was 2011, i saw a photo Lucas Oil Off Road posted on facebook of Ryan Villopoto attending a race and I thought it would be awesome if he raced it after retiring from MX. it looks like it might be happening way sooner than I thought

Don't forget about Steve Martz, who was shot by a Mexican rancher back in 2008,while riding in Northern Baja.

Even way back, MXA editor Dick Miller was hit by a vehicle and left for dead.

Your are fooling yourself by ignoring the many possible scenario's that can unfold down there.

You obviously weren't in that Ensenada cathouse being "treated like royalty" with a previous poster, now were you? Tongue
