Soooo, if these rumors are true about the GP's, RV is smarter than I even thought. Think about it, he's riding a bike that he's at home on, he will have a "personal assistant" so to speak in Ratray that can show him how things are done, help him avoid the pitfalls over there and help him with adapting to the Euro culture and food. Then on top of that, I'm pretty sure he has studied our losses at the MXDN that showed our riders weaknesses, particularly in the sand and buys a house near the area to get his sand skills on par.....very smart indeed.

As much as an RV fan as I am, I'm not predicting a waxing of TC over there this year like some are, but he sure is giving himself the best odds. If he is doing all of those things, I'm sure he is going to keep his training regimen up as well.

Good Luck RV!

Recall when Michael Andretti went to F1...and tried to commute from the US? It was a disaster. The #1 smart thing is moving there, establishing a home base near good tracks.

As for the whole sand track thing...I think that he will be fine. Much of sand track riding is getting your set up really dialed. When RV has spent 20 days testing in the DEEP...he will be going just as fast as JH and TC....if not faster.

RV is an outdoor beast and I think he will be well suited to the GP tracks if he has decided to race there.

Nobody will ever be as fast as Herlings in the sand.

Why do people still make a big deal out of the food in Europe, he isn't going on vacation in 1975 and trying to find something to eat In a hotel restaurant. If you think he won't have his meals prepared for him just like another athlete does you are kidding yourself. There is plenty of Aldon Baker approved food in the normal markets there he won't even notice a difference.

you might even argue that the food is better and healthier in europe....however, they are improving quickly when it comes to catching up with the most obese country in the world.

I'm excited about this if it happens.

What other US rider has gone there to conquer at the top of his game? It will be a great challenge and bring many many more fans interested in the gp series next year. Will be great.

US mx fans should be embracing this plan. I hope he does it and wins big.

If he's moving to Lommel then good luck, it's one of the bleakest places in Europe. And that's coming from someone who lives in North Wales.

If the rules allow Herlings to ride in the smaller cc class then he should take advantage of grabbing a 250f class title. That's not sandbagging. Herlings has incredible speed in sand. Is he as fast as RV in those conditions? He would have to move up to the 450f class in 2015 to prove that theory.

NFG!

Moving to Belgium and taking on Tony Cairoli? Not to mention giving up a very good chance at 5 in a row in SX?

Never been to Wales, but from the pictures and videos on TV, it looks beautiful to me.

Herlings is in the Jessy Nelson,Matt Biscigelia etc age bracket,it's a shame he's not moved up but who can blame him

As for sand,he's incredible, his 250 laptimes usually destroy the MX1 times, what him and AC did to the rest at the Lommel MXdN was telling, guys like Roczen and Dungey (with an off) were nearly 2 minutes down so I think he could handle RV ok,even away from the sand I think he's the fastest guy in the GP's anyhow, most who've seen his race seem to think the same, gutted he's out and gutted he's not MX1 next year but he's still only 19,hopefully he'll race RV at some point

RV has been the best in the AMA by far over recent years and will have all things in place with the way he's going about things as Machine says, half the tracks are new too so no real advantage to AC there either,it should be a great season if Paulin,Van Horbeek,Desalle,Strijbos,Nagl,Frossard,De dycker etc can all stay fit too, they all have their good tracks and can genuinely do well

If his knee was so bad he wouldn't be ready for SX, will his knee ever be the same? I'm not a expert on all of the GP tracks but some of them I have seen look really rough and I wonder if the knee will take it.

Yeah but some countries have nasty food and the thought of cold cuts and cheese for breakfast makes me want to vomit along with blood pudding and eggs.. Sick Now if he could live could live in Italy, that would be great food wise.. Smile

I also think if someone isn't used to certain things like the water in Mexico, for an example, it can make you more prone to food sickness.

You can eat what you want , when you want , just because thats what the serve in hotels , and thats what the locals eat, doesnt mean everyone has to.

At least he will be able to sample bread that tastes like bread , and not like cake...

RV won't be going hungry. That boy can hunt. Lots of critters over there with antlers. RV's rv will be well stocked. Stamp it. Grill it. Mount it.

Herlings is also in the same age bracket as Roczen. I'm not trying to discredit Herlings talent, he's a phenomenal rider, but it just seems to me if you were as dominant as he is, you would want to move up and reach for bigger goals like beating AC(and now RV), in their prime, regardless of whether he's "forced" to or not. Being so dominant but staying in MX2 "because he can" is sandbagging, IMO. He's already proven time and again he can destroy the MX2 class.
