Well.....I'm an RV fan for sure , since he is our local guy ya know? But man.....I'll tell ya what....RD and CR are on their games right now. We saw some big surprises happen this weekend as well. Cristian Craig , Millsaps , Metty , Dietrich.....all these guys can mix up the points big time. None of them are going to be easy to pass....let alone beat. EVERYONE is going to have to work their asses off.....and have a little luck on their side.

Right now though....Reed and Dungey I think are on another level.....but that could change by next weekend.

There is more chance that James will show up for an outdoor than anybody running away in this series, especially RV he has got to get within eyesight of the other 2 first.

RV didn't look too healthy in the pre-race interviews. I'm going to guess lack of testing and fatigue from being sick, while not huge factors, are enough for him to settle for podiums. The way he's been riding looks to me like he isn't trying to win. Not to discredit Reed or Dungey though, because they're hauling the mail and wont make it easy when RV starts twisting the throttle.

He won't walk the series, but race-to-race I think that he will end up eating Chad and RD up by mid season. Give him a little time.

You're right P, nothing is set in stone until Red Bud and beyond, as CP377 can testify.

He looks really thin.

Maybe Poto is suffering from "message board syndrome".
Like Stewy in sx, coming in riding the wave of fan boys making outrages claims of superiority, believing they have everybody covered in their "specialist field", and underestimating the competition to the degree we have witnessed and are witnessing?
I've read so many times over a number of boards that Bubba's going to clean up in sx and poto's going to do the same outdoors.
There are too many variables in racing to simply make some of the predictions that have been made and will continue to be made without any thought other than what your favorite riders nuts taste like.
I'm sure that anything can happen, and Poto's smarter than SOME of his fans and will only get stronger.Smile

Remember Reed got like that in the '09 supercross lost like 15pounds - lucky for Bubba Wink

I agree with P, RV will be winning motos by mid season and be right there at the end.

He reminds me of Reed in 09, clearly something wrong but he's doing the right thing by collecting the points and keeping his mouth shut (no excuses) until he's over whatever his problem is. Hope it's not too serious.

Dont know about the second part, but it does seem everyone forgets TC joining in on the action here shortly... That guy is gonna impress just as much outdoor as he did indoor and take some points from some unhappy campers

RV is fine. His speed is right there with Dungey and Reed. If you don't get out of the first corner with those two then you can't race them.

I like RV's chances. I still think he will win the title.

He's not the same as Glen Helen in 2009. He's a stronger, leaner, much better-trained version of that Villopoto.

You guys don't remember when RC went from being a pudgy kid to a chiseled athlete under Aldon's guidance?

I mentioned to my Dad in the pre-race interviews that Poto looked sick. Pasty, thin, drawn. JMO

Since the wheels fell off the #7 band wagon, you can likely catch the RVBW, it's moving slow enough.

I think RV will do better. But where is the evidence of how well RV stacks up against these guys on a 450 outdoors?
Look, before the opener, most people were saying RV would kill everyone outdoors. No one predicted Reed would have a 21 point lead after round 2. Milsaps is 3rd in points. Who predicted his apparent strength?

Why do people pretend they know what will happen? Where are the folks who had it all figured out 3 weeks ago?

He didn't look right when he was riding - not in terms of technique, but very passive.

I can't wait for Ice Trey to come back.........As far as RV, yeah I know I said he will go 24-0, then i said 22-2.......but anyway, not sure what is wrong with RV, but anyone that knows anything about moto knows he will be winning soon......sure Chad and RD are hauling but we havent seen Ryan show up yet.....maybe the week off will be just what he needs......

But can Trey run with RD? As I HUGE Dunge fan even I think Trey is better at supercross. Outdoors.....nah. Think Trey and Dunge are gonna 1-2 and help RD get back points. Villa-who? The second coming of RC? Jus playin but I agree with some on here, he looks too thin. Jus because he owned 250s doesn't mean he's gonna do the same to 450s. Lots of great lites riders didnt just dominate when they moved up. Dunge has, but we know he's specialGrinningWink

Based on what reason is he gonna WIN soon? Because he won Glen Helen a while ago? Yeah was Reed there, having tested for a week and Dungey was on 250s. I agree his fast laps are there but where does the domination talk come in. How about he keeps Reed and RD in sight before this magical run of his starts?

Please. Reed and Dungey are on it. Nobody's going to walk away on anyone in this year's title chase. Thankfully.

You cannot win the championship in the first race or couple of races but you can lose it. RV is doing the right thing, most important, be consistent, don't crash and become injured. If the track is not one you are good at, endure it and shine at the tracks you are good at. But the competition is stiff, so we will have to wait and see if RV can start doing better. If he is sick and not at 100 percent, best not to push it now, wait a little bit.

He cant still be sick. A flu and fever don't last 2 weeks but probably took so much out of him, he's still recovering. Looks superlean, too skinny. He was in great shape for supercross and prob lost 6-7 lbs in a week from being sick. He's also never gone this long into a 450 season without being hurt. Prob just needs a week or two of rest. His fast laps are right there

Still sick means recovering, I have been recovering from the flu and tried to race, your body doesn't want to perform. As I said, I think things will only get better for him, Just don't get injured.

Based on he is Ryan Villopoto! Was Reed there? now thats funny! You are gonna sit here and tell me Chad is a better rider than RV outdoors? And you dont think Trey can win outdoors? wow........I might be wrong about when RV will win, I thought he would dominate from the beginning. But like P said and everyone else his time will come.........If you thought Reed was faster why didnt you post before the season that he would smoke RV?

RV has had the fastest lap in 3 out the 4 motos run so far, so we know he has the speed.

His health and poor starts are not helping him, but, I'm thinking he will start to turn it on as we go back east.

Unfortunately flu can easily last 2 weeks, sometimes 3 on the way to 4. If it's bad (remember real flu can kill people) then he simply won't be able to train. And then of course assuming he's over it, which by now he probably is - even once the virus is dead it can take a surprising amount of time for your body to recover it's previous condition (in rare cases the effects can go on for years). It may be a while before RV can get anywhere near his peak performance. Ideally a rest would be in order but there's no time for that, so he must slog on and make of it what he can......

Personally I think by round 4 or 5 he'll be knocking out moto wins. But it's hardly an ideal start for him, no two ways about it.
