This is just crazy! I've been reading about the drug gangs down there and it's just out of control.

Supercross rider Rene Reyes Slain in Mexico
By DC
Supercross rider Rene Reyes, who participated in the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series and was one of Mexico's top riders, was murdered yesterday in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Racer X has learned that Rene, a privateer rider in the AMA Supercross class who wore #601, participated in a race in Mexico on Sunday, then decided to stay in Cd. Juarez with friends afterwards. Apparently, a gang broke into the house they were staying and killed everyone inside. According to his friend and fellow racer Pedro Gonzalez, Reyes left behind his wife, who is carrying their first child. He was 24 years old.

The Shop
you can't make that stuff up in a movie. Anyway, a long time goal to go down there during the race pretty much zapped by that and other stories I've heard. Rather take my chances tent camping on Kodiak Island.
Rene is in the black shirt...super nice guy and usually always smiling.

Here is a news story in spanish on it.

RIP
Pit Row
He was a great person. Always tried really hard to become someone in Supercross. He was also Mexican National Champion for a couple of years.
His older brother died of cancer in Febuary this year.
Prayers for his family...........=(
RIP Rene!
Much like the Paris to Dakar was finally cancelled becuse of terrorism.
Personally, Mexico doesn't deserve the the Baja races anymore, were our citizens organize several events that specifically boost their ecomomy, while their citizens welcome international guests with boobie traps, like it's a human rodeo?
Cancun can suffer too. Not going next year.
American racing belongs in America. Enter the Mint 400, or the BID series. Mexican racers welcome to enter.
SCORE has the marvelous option to rename it's series with an outright moral oblication to its charactor, concern for safety of its participants, and pride in our nation to keep our economy afloat.
We should not be producing races in known terrorist zones. If a race is to be produced in a terrorist zone, send in our military to podium.
