Where will he end up next year?
Or is it time up for CR22..
Clearly not getting along with the YZ450F..
Thoughts?

2 more years.

Red Bull KTM on Dungeys ride next year
Then a swan song on Rockstar Husky to complete the rounds of every bike and every energy drink and he can sail off into the sunset with a bulging wallet.

Or not. Who knows.

He's bad mouthed every set of wheels he's ever been on.

He's probably waiting for the all new '18 YZ450F, but news flash..... he'll hate it and blame it.

He really talked it up after Glendale as he finally got the change he was asking for from Yamaha after a number of months, then we went backwards after that it seems. I was hoping he would consistently challenge up front after that ride but man he just hasn't been able to keep the pace. Does he have a contract for next year? He has expressed the desire to break LaRocco's all time start record and he would need all of next year to get there. But will someone give him a contract just for this? Plus he won't be racing the outdoors, so it will be a long time between gate drops for him.

You are correct on that Ramrod. He could ride the piss out of that thing and put the GOAT in his place.

I'm sure he's been doing a lot of soul searching of late and I wont be at all supprised to hear at Vegas it's his last. Depending on what this new 18 will be like and that he's had a chance to ride it and know that it's a much better base, it may be enough convince himself they can get that bike to where it needs to be for him, and that it was the current bike holding him back, not his age.

Watched his interview with Holley yesterday. He said he is looking for a place for 18 and 19, while admitting this year has been a complete disaster. Reading between the lines I think the second honeymoon with Yamaha is over and he's sick of the bike, or at least would rather be on something else. I hope he comes back and kicks ass, or at least does something he can be happy with.

Personally I think Yamah should keep him, re homologate the 250 two stroke and build him the best one they can and let him race that next year as a swan song.
Imagine if he were to make the main on a two stroke at every round?
It would be an enormous boost for Yamaha and the fans....probably even sell some bikes.
I believe he could make the main on the 250 two stroke no worries, who cares if he finishes last?
Finishing outside the top ten on Yamahas factory 450 is pretty ho hum...its Webb's job to get that thing on the box.
I wish Reed would do it...just say what the hell and go out having some fun and with the fans cheering for him!

If he struggles to make top ten on a 4 stroke, he certainly wont make top 22 on a 2 stroke.

Swan song on a Husqvarna. For some reason I think he would gel with the white bike.

It would have to be a privateer gig, because I don't see Rockstar Husky giving up any of their young guys for a guy they'll be extremely lucky to get 2 more Supercross only seasons out of.

Which young gun should he give it up for?

The one who's supposed to be yamahas next big thing hasn't exactly set the world on fire in his rookie year and will finish behind Reed in points. The only guys moving up were all waxed by Webb 12 months ago indoors and out.

Reeds in the main event each week, top 10-15 every week. Podium on a great night, and one of if not the most popular dudes in the pits. Im not sure who is making the move up or even currently in the class that can offer anything more than that to justify taking his ride.

So many people saying "who cares" and that he should "retire"... I think Chad deserves the right to go out when he wants to (2 x supercross champion and lost what 4 by less than 10 points). Why should he give up his ride to a younger person if he is still beating these younger people. By quiet a few people's opinions/logic everybody but 4 riders (Dungey, Tomac, Musquin & Roczen) should retire because they aren't winning

I think Plessinger can take him next year. And he'll race outdoors.

He will learn to do big transitions on that YZ450 to stay relevant.
