Just found out that my girlfriend is related to the producer of the movie RAD, Hal Needham. I guess he's a super renowned stuntman, IMDB lists him as the highest paid stuntman of all time. I know that's kind of a cult classic movie around here, I still need to see it, damnit!

It's on YouTube. I just watched it last week when I was watching 80s Moto movies. It's still a great movie!!!

I went to a screening of Rad at some studio in So Cal prior to the movie being finished, a lot of the sound was missing and scenes a little different. Most of the actors were there including Hal Needham who drove up in a well used but current model Ferrari with bald tires. No trailer queens in the Needham household. Badass.

So we're with some fam watching the Rose Bowl (go ducks!!) and it turns out Hal is her Great great uncle. Still shares his last name, for now haha

HAH! yeah great old movie......I used to be able to do every trick like the guys at the beginning and end of the movie! Then flatland freestyle started rapidly evolving to what it is now! .. That was about the time I made my transition from flatland stuff to BMX racing.

Now a days flatland is flat out AMAZING! like it defies physics even!Huh

Yeah, that's how the conversation came up today. She asked me if I remembered that "bicycle racing movie from the 80's" I tried to get her to watch, and I said I couldn't remember. She said some co workers were talking about it. So I said do you mean BMX? And she said probably, so then I did some googling and found/remembered RAD. The IMDb page had Hal Needham listed and I mentioned it to her, and it just sorta got pieced together from there. Pretty random and interesting!

I saw the movie 6 times in the theater. My mom was recently talking about that being the easiest it ever was to get me to go to the mall. Lol she'd buy me a ticket & then go shopping.
