Breaking the fast guys one at a time. They may be faster, but they cannot maintain his pace.

Used to be faster. Until they wadded. To win you must finish.

Craziest thing about the dunge and most impressive to me is how decoster knew he was going to be good. Plucking him out the B class and such. That's impressive intuition. I could have used that skill on a few women I dated LaughingTongue

Everything I've ever heard/read says that Ryan practically had to beg Decoster to take him, and Roger gambled and won.

I think the big thing was he didn't get to ride all winter when he was growing up , I'm sure Roger D knew this

That 97% stat that Hobo-Nick read out the other day on Pulp is fucking astonishing... His consistency now make Reed's look average at a pretty similar career point and Chad was waaaaay ahead of everyone in that aspect.

What Weege says is so true. Dungey goes "this" fast.... It seems going any faster consistently is nearly fucking impossible.

The Man picked Dungey due to.his corner speed meanwhile the masses focus on jumping.

EDIT I call total BS ON RoflCopter's Dungey begged DeCoster for a ride post. There was no begging.

I never heard that side of the story. Either way good call/gamble by Decoster!

Dungey was not "plucked from B class"

I hate this rumor, because i feel like it has fed an epic level of sandbagging in the amateurs ever since.

He basically begged, and begged, and begged DeCoster just for a chance to ride an RMZ in front of him. Not to ride for Suzuki, but to just get Roger to watch him ride. Then, he propositioned him with riding for FREE.

But no doubt Dungey is the Kiedrowski of this generation.

Dungey raced a LL qualifier at our track here in Indiana his last year as a amateur. He was by far the fastest rider to ever race here at our track. His coner speed was insane. He was already a Suzuki supported rider. He went on to win the natnonal title at LL in the B class. He deserved the ride he got from Suzuki. I personally saw Dungey ride as an amateur. I don't think he was a gamble at all. The record books speak for themself. And he is not done yet.

the craziest thing about it is that for all years but 2015 he was training himself. pure determination.

I've said it time and time again. His 90% pace is faster than everyone else's 110% pace. . . Good things happen when you can get as consistently fast like he is.

Fast, smooth and calculated puts him at the front of the pack and now it appears Aldon has given him the confidence to be aggressive in the early stages of the race to go for the lead and still have the fitness for late moto battles. Hmmmm, seems there are a few other riders that road like this, RC4, JS7, RV2 to name a few. Obviously great for his career.

What everyone is quickly forgetting is that Tomac will be back in the picture and once he figures out how to back off a little with a comfortable lead these records Dunge is chasing will be harder to achieve. I know he can do it and still pulling for RD5!

Cole Gress discovered him, Decoster just gets the credit.

Well please tell us all where Ryan came from if it wasnt the B class?

I remember Dungey's first (I think) pro race at Mammoth after it was announced he was going to the big show with Suzuki. He gave MC all he could handle on the 450f and cleaned up on the 250f. After those rides I knew he was going to be pretty good but looking at his accomplishments now I'd say he's done better than anyone expected.

Dunge is already right up there with the best we've seen. If he stopped now his career statistics would be incredibly impressive, and he looks set to carry on in the same manner over the next few years

Ryan went straight from the 'B' class to the big truck. Cole Gress may have 'discovered' him as an amateur {along with Shane Bess, Ben Riddle, Tomac, etc.} and, Dungey may have had to 'beg' for the try out, {I would call it doing his due diligence}, but if you asked Ryan who he would credit his success to as a pro, I would guess he would say something like,,,,,'Well, I've got to give it up to the whole team,,,,". Between the lines that means DeCoster. What kind of team does Suzuki have without him? What kind of team did KTM have before him? Ryan has already had a great career. He's a hard worker and a good role model for the young people in the sport. On paper he is ahead of some big 'names' already. I hope someday, he might change his mind about the gp's and give it a shot. I think Ryan's approach would work well over there and if he could win the title, it might be very satisfying. Bobby Jones walked off the course at St Andrews in his first attempt at the Open Championship. Later, he would change his mind about it all.

He never rode the B class at LL. His only title came in Schoolboy in 2005. Regardless, he was a B rider and was racing the spring nationals in 2006 in the B class when he got his try out with Roger. He was supposed to go back to LL in B class in 2006 until Roger made the decision for him not to race LL.

Dungey is a baddass and these numbers prove it. As it's been said above, his "comfortable pace" is simply amazing and one could argue that this pace is others undoing.
