I am just curious. How much time does it take daily to moderate and review the postings on the forum? Can you estimate the percentage of posts that actually are so over the top that they have to be removed? Is it a regular occurrence to ban offending participants? I consider my self an extremely fast reader, I can't imagine how long it would take to keep us barbarians in line.

Anyway, thank you for all your efforts.

Ive moderated some gaming forums in the past. You basically have to read everything until you find something that needs deleted. Prob a whole shift to be compeletely caught up. Less if you stay caught up.

Well, there's five of us so at least it's not all on one person. I try to scroll through and check all the new threads at least once every hour (except for when I'm asleep Tongue ).

I probably spend 2-3 hours a day on it.

Percentage of over-the-top stuff that needs deleting? Maybe 2%. I also do take out the trash, when it's just a couple guys beefing at each other and it doesn't relate to the topic.

Clipping people is sometimes just a tactic to help preserve my sanity...so I don't have to read any more posts from a particular person. Wink

I often read threads backwards. The crap that needs deleting is often at the tail end.

The mods here are actually really good. Over at TW (tacomaworld) the mods are a bit ridiculous and ban people for all sorts of reasons or no reason at all. Then again that whole forum is going to sh*t.
