My 5 year old just started riding his pw50 last weeks and he is already flying to the point that he wants to race. I've done some searching but can't find any people that really specialize in building pw50's for racing.

I'm going to get a ktm or cobra 50 for him also now but he loves the PW so I figured I'd get both and let him decide.

Isn't the PW in a stock (limited) class in most racing organizations?

Well they are but, you can squeeze some extra out. They are allowed to do some port clean ups, shaft polishing and other trickery mods. Personally I'd get the little Johnny out there and get him against the others. Little Johnny is always fast at home. Been there and raced 50's with my son. Op get him out there in the stock bike and go from there.

Yes it's in a "stock" class but Theres a lot of things that people do to them to from what I seen at lorettas a few years ago

He'll be on it such a short time, the time will fly by before you get your "racer" built.

Those trick PWs were so awesome. Colin Edwards' dad built several of them for riders in TX and surrounding areas back in the day. He is trying to locate any of the ones he built, if anyone knows of anything.

Yep, his Daddy built a fast one for him. Way back in 82, Colin and I were in the final moto at Ponca. I had led every inch of the race except the last 4 feet, and he beat me by 3 inches at the line! My Dad and and he just shook and hands and held both us kids proud as can be. My YZinger, ( they went by that back when they were new) was built by Ron Densford out of Canyon Country CA. Daddy had close to 3 grand in that bike, and it was WAY ahead of its time..... top end from hell for a pee wee. The motor was built by Ted Moorewood, with a bored Mikuni carb that started life as a 28. Ron built the chassis, which was essentially everything off a YZ 60 he could stuff onto it, and he warned my Dad to try to keep me from cracking the throttle while in the air off a jump, It would snap driveshafts upon landing. So every time I did that very thing, Daddy would say to himself "there goes 34 bucks...". It was an awesome, unique machine I wish I still had, but sadly don't. However, my bike, and Colin's, both earned us rides with Team Green the next year aboard the brand new KX 60..... Thanks Dave Jordan, and Thank you Daddy!!!!!!!

So awesome! I'll never forget the day I got my first motorcycle. However, I didn't participate in my first race until I was 16.

my dad built me suspension for my pw and i think he big bored it. it was perfect from what i can remember. e got me a r&d built lem and i was scared shitless of it. too fast. he pulled a wheelie holeshot over little tony alessi in the pee wee dads race. yes dads had to put up or shut up and race their kids bikesGrinning make the kid learn to ride before you strap him to a rocket, you will thank yourself in the long run. i learned how to manual and carry speed on my pw. all i learned to do on the LEM was whiskey throttle

"Building" any 50 should be against the rules.

This is all kinds of bad

If it fits within the rules then why not? When you see a national race with 20 "stock" 50's and there's 4-5 bikes pulling 10-15 bike lengths on the pack off the start you know they're not stock.

PW motor bolted to a Mongoose bike. 60cc ported ATV head, KTM pipe. It screams.
