After yrs of being around the sport one of the biggest topics for amateurs, is two strokes better than four strokes. Sure there's advantages of having ether or, but after being around both nothing like hearing the school boy class stacked with 40 buzzing 125s. When the gates are full of 450s the earth moving sound of the huge four strokes isn't that bad ether. Where do you fall on this huge dilemma??
Now I only race for fun, 2 strokes are more fun, theres my choice.
YZ250 to be precise
The Shop
I hate the offseason. It hasn't even snowed yet...
I haven't had a 2t in 15 years until now
The new breed of ktm 2ts are not how I remember 2ts being...the power comes on very soon in the rpm.
I feel like my 250sx wants to kill me. The switch-over to 2t is brutal. Its not tame, smooth, or easily ridable...but it sure does haul the mail.
What kind of Huskys do you prefer? the motor sickle or the one you feed dog chow?
We all can agree that the 2 vs. 4 is played out... and I never been to Alaska...
do you race professionally ? 95 % on here No
what is the most fun to ride ? 2 stroke
what can you rebuild yourself ? 2 stroke
what is cheaper to run ? 2 stroke
what is a lot easier to ride ? 4 stroke
what will help you learn to be a better rider ? 2 stroke
so make your own mind up but i know what is in my garage :-}}
Pit Row
The 2 stroke riders don't need the extra thrills or workout.
I don't just ride - I ride a 2stroke...
4 stroke- smooth, linear, energy conservation, dry flat track cornering gold
I own a 13 yz250 but raced 4 strokes a few years back. Smoker for fun, 4 stroker for racing.
* CMRC nationals not included.
I got a bit swapped out over a chewed up jump and when landed applied the standard "pin it" technique to get straightened out. Swapped 2 more times and got high side ejected. I think that had I been on a 2s that I likely would have saved that situation, but with the 4s there is so much mass it just couldn't be done.
