Is that swingarm powdercoated also? Looks like it is. I've debated on powdercoating my bike but I'm not sure I want to dump the money into that kind of modification. I'm not fast so I don't need the attention called to myself.

My old bike. Wheels, hubs, and sprocket. No framework.

Is the black textured hard to clean? does more mud and dirt stick to it?

It's funny of all the women that have seen my livingroom decor, most like it, but then again they are just trying to get on my good side with free flight benefits.

Love the yellow Yamahas! What they're supposed to look like IMO... Great looking bike!

Does anyone know where to get powder coating done in the Charleston SC area? Want to do my frame and swingarm.

This bike was stolen but I was building another which is now done, same way, only with white backgrounds. Going to do another one this way again. Also doing a 03 KX100 with 14 plastics, seat & tank, going to make it look like a 22 Motorsports replica as my son is a Chad Reed fan. Just waiting on the hubs ( powder coated to look magnesium ) and graphics.

Just a question, if I do this to the frame, is it easy to remove it all without any long lasting effect when it comes time to sell the bike? I just don't think most people would want a coloured frame when buying a bike.

This was the project bike from hell most of 2008. Thing was POSESSED. My car was totaled mid project and I actually threw in the towel. Thanks to the character of the young man who owned the bike Anthony Gould he got my pilot lit relit and we carried on. Bike when it was finished for the MXA test it utilized a FMF exhaust but pretty much looked the same.

EDIT Anthony's father Rick tore down his other son's Chris YZ250F to get his frame sand blasted and powder coated after seeing how well Anthony's bike turned out.. Unfortunately Rick forgot to plug up the oil holes (this year Yamaha carried oil through the frame) and when he got the bike back together it wasn't any time before the motor shelled.. Upon dissection there was sand everywhere from the frame procedure. Big thanks to MXA for shooting this thing THREE times in their studio in its various incarnations. Learned so much from this bike that the next project bike was a dream.

Stubby-You don't take it off for resale. If you have any question don't do it but I had my 95 CR250 Honda done in 2000. The frame was beat appearance wise and came back with this high gloss beautiful white paint. My bike was beautiful but unfortunately an unwanted back adjustment from my chiro at the time kept me off the bike for five years and I sold the bike.

To the OP,

When it comes to rims and hubs, anodize them.

I can powder coat at home without much investment. Anodizing I cant and there's no one near me that does it.

There is a place in Georgia that will disassemble your wheels, anodize the rims, turn the hubs on a lathe, then anodize them. reassemble them. all for around 400 bucks, which is cheaper than a set of those "DNA" wheels and looks a hell of a lot better than powdercoat.

Here is my 07 RM250 with a black frame and wheels. That's an 11 450 behind it.

Here is a little better pic with better lighting.

My 2009 CRF 450r... Powdercoated triple clamps, rims, and hubs. The guys who bought it from me is a buddy of mine, and it still looks good.
