I am trouble shooting this problem on my 86 CR250 . After recently replacing the stock silencer with an FMF Spark Arrestor and Boyesen reeds . I am getting a popping sound in the exhaust pipe at low rpm upon deceleration. I have the Keihin PJ set to the factory specs with a 60 slow jet and a 175 main. Needle in the 3d position. I am thinking its a rich setting on the pilot and should go to a 55. Any suggestions would be great Thanks

Popping on decel is usually a lean condition. Might have a bad seal on the boyesen reed cage. I'd silicon both sides of gasket on reeds if the jetting seems right.

How many coats of paint are on the pipe?
