Often they'll combine classes when there's not enough in ome of the other classes: also, don't we get to drop a class if we race the "younger" class?

Our rule book allows vet riders to "race down" in younger age divisions. It's not considered "advantageous" to race riders younger than yourself once you're over 30.

I can ride all of those classes you listed in addition to the +30.
Hell, I can add the +25, +55, +60 too, if I am qualified by being at least that old!
All on the same day, if I choose.

He's fine, you can qualify in as many classes as you want, but have to chose two for the national. The age group classes, with the exception of 30 + B/C are open classes that anyone can run as long as they meet the age requirement. He could have run +25 too if he wanted. The only reason he couldn't run the 30+ B/C class would be if he's an expert (A) rider.

His RPV has him listed as an "A" rider. So not eligible for "B/C"" class.

If you've raced "A" or had a pro license, you cannot ride 30 B/C.....just ask Kevin Cozaad. My last pro card was '78 and I'm not eligible for 30 B/C.

So you're saying if the guy races in the 35/40/45/50 classes he shouldn't be able to race in the 30 class?

Ever?
I have been a slow A racer, by choice, not advancement, since 1976.
You think the AMA would move me to B, upon my request, since I soon will be 59 years old?

Yep, shouldn't be in the class. It should be pretty cut and dry, in my opinion. Last year they made a few exceptions because guys appealed there "A" status with the AMA and got the golden letter allowing them to ride B. You need to get in touch with mxsports and I think they require you to write a letter protesting eligibility. I qualified last year but noticed a guy in southeast regional that was running A class at a big series the year before. I got a bunch of shit from a few guys on this board for it but I put to much time and money into trying to qualify to get down there to race a gate full of A riders. Turns out I seperated my shoulder in practice when I got down there so it didn't matter anyway, but it was still a fun experience.

The 30 class is "B/C" only. There is no regular "30+" class, only 25+ right?

See my post above....

Yep, you would need their permission/blessing, or someone could protest you.

Like I said, search around on Kevin Cozaad and see what he went through. I think it was 07, no?

Was he really an A advanced rider or just a C/B rider forced to race against the A riders?

If you are 30,40, 45 or 50 and are a B rider, you can try to qualify for any of those classes. +25, 40, 45(is there still one) and 50 are OPEN classes. That means ANY rider, A,B,C or D can try to qualify in any of those classes. For +30B/C you have to be(lol right) a B rider. Last year I believe there were 2 riders from NY that got in that had raced A class before. One was a former factory ATV rider and the other had multiple races in the A class but I believe petitioned and got the golden letter.....

There are also those career B riders who dodge AMA events so they do not point out. There are a few of those in the NY area as well who seem to qualify for both the 30 b/c and +35 class every year but never seem to point out of B.....

There are no A,B or C designations in any of the Vet classes EXCEPT for +30 B/C where no A riders would be able to participate.

If a guy snuck through the regional, let him make it to the National and protest him there. No worse punishment for cheating than making the long trip just to be denied.

Make sure you have some documentation of his "A" rider status and maybe a printed result of him competing in the "A" class.

In our district we have the plus 40 class, which is a mix of A and B/C riders. If you're an A rider you win money, if you're a B/C rider you win a trophy. BUT, once you're an A rider you cannot ride B/C. So for me I cannot ride 30 B/C because I'm an A rider in plus 40. I'd run 30A, 25A etc...

If you get the "CRYBABY" paper signed, you can do this. What is the "Crybaby" paper. A form that states your an A , but your to slow to run A, so therefore you can run B. Just show up and sandbag a couple of A races and your golden, man. Cry about it loud enough and your running B.

What are the point to rules when this happens. Jody at MXA has it right. The AMA, MX SPORTS and THE NPG cannot, will not make decisions based on the rules.

if he is listed as an A rider his name and information should be sent to AMA so he can be removed from the class.

if you wait til you get to LL they won't accept a classification protest from what i understand. so it needs looked at now.

since you are posting on a post board. who is it. out the guy and by tommorow afternoon it will be over.
