Has anyone tried out the new Pirelli scorpion back tire?? I'm tired of dunlops wearing out way to fast. I've been using the Dunlop mx52 in the back and 32 in the front. Dunlop 32 in the front is a really good tire but the mx52 wears out way to fast

I believe WPS has them.

Also, my Pirelli's last longer than most comparable tires.

Pirelli MX Xtra X are great tires that last forever, especially the front. I haven't ridden with any others.

So far I have over 12 hours on my Michelin Starcross 5 mediums and they are the best tires I have ever been on. The wear is almost unnoticeable as well. That is combined riding between track and rocky desert. The only thing with these tires is you have to use way higher air pressure than I am used to using for them to hook up best and for the knobs to not roll in corners. I run 14-15 psi front and 13-14 rear. I think Pirelli has been recommending higher pressures with their newer tires too. Maybe Team Green can verify that.

From my experiences a tire that last longer usually doesn't hook up as well. I have ran pretty much every tire brand. Kenda,Maxxis,Dunlop,Pirelli,Bridgestone
The Bridgestone ,Kenda and Maxxis tires always seemed to last longer but didn't hook up that great. The Dunlops don't last very long but they perform better in my opinion. The Pirelli's were my least favorite that didn't seem to last very long or hook up well but that's just a personal opinion. It just comes down to are you looking for performance over longevity or vice versa. As far as it goes I think the best of both worlds would be a maxxis they have a decent life and hook up fairly well.

I run Dunlop 3S's up front, and love them! I get about 8 hours out of one before it starts to chunk. Not a fan of Dunlop rears as they only perform well for a short time. Recently switched to Bridgestone X40 rear- Great traction with solid durability. Just mounted a set of Starcross 5's though. Looking forward to seeing how them perform.

Been using the Pirelli MX tires for several years.

My go to front tire was the Scorpion MX32. I have since switched up to the Scorpion FIM Pro MX32. The knob configuration is different than the MX32. I prefer the FIM MX32 over the standard MX32.The FIM Pro is a directional front tire.

For the rear I like the MX410 mud / sand tire, Scorpion MX32 and the ExtraX. I am waiting for my local shop to get FIM Pro Scorpion MX32 rear.

The ExtraX works really well on tracks that start out soft in the morning ( practice and 1st moto) and get hard packed towards the afternoon.

For tracks that stay softer throughout the day I will mount up the MX 32 rear

The bike is a 2006 RM250. I run between 12 -14 psi.

I've used Dunlop, Michelin, Bridgestone and Maxxis.

I've been running the Pro on my KTM250. It's a great tire in all conditions. That's the biggest perk of this tire, great traction in the morning and doesn't feel slick during the afternoon hardback. I've previously ran Dunlop MX32s and they hold up a bit longer. I just got home from riding Mammoth MX for the last 3 days that definitely took its toll by wearing down the main knob. No cracks or broken knobs. I'd ride another set. Also it was really easy to mount!

X4 on the Starcross 5s.

I have been running the medium rear and have 14 hours on mine and have yet to flip it around. Great grip and works very well in every condition.

I prefer the Pirelli's for performance and mount them for race day. For practice, I run the cheap ass IRC's. The Kansas hardpack will roach a tire in one ride. I run heavy duty tubes with the cheap tires to reduce the wobble at high lean angles. Poor folks got poor ways.

Than... Dunlops?

I still love my 403/404s when it is hardpack... definitely give up some in the morning though.

Yes than Dunlop Mx32. I was going to try a pro version after the x20 I have on but I'm going starcross now. No ones said anything negative of them and I want lighter tyres. X20 was tops grip wise, wore quick on rear and is heavy.

I have an scorpion mx32 pro on the rear right now, it is holding up really well. But I don't think it's as good as the 32 Dunlop here in California. But it last longer and that's the trade off. But it is a good tire. Wish Pirelli had a mx32 pro front. Or do they in Europe but not here? Love the dunlops but hate buying a new front every two weeks.

Have had the MX32 Pro on there rear of my 15 RM-Z450 for nearly two months, coming from the Pirelli Mid Hard I ran during the Australian summer, the new MX32 hooked up so freaking sweetly in all conditions, though have been pretty lucky to be running mainly loam and some sand tracks of late.

Ran three MX races and two Off-Road races on the same rear, it has held together very well, but again apart from two small sections during the Off-Road races pretty much all riding has been done on some soft terrain that is not eating up the tyre.

My wheels are currently at the shop getting a set of MX 32 Mid Soft's on ready for a 4 hour cross country Sand / Desert race I have coming up next weekend here in Aus.

I am having the used MX32 Pro put onto my spare wheel and will be trying to find some hard pack / dry tracks to ride on so I can see how it hooks up and how long it will last.

The Standard MX 32 Mid Soft I love, even on a dried up track, they grip on anything, but get chewed up real fast as soon as it gets dry from my experience. Hoping the Pro will hold in a little longer on the dry hard stuff.

Pirelli has the Scorpion FIM Pro 32, little different tread pattern than the Scorpion MX32.
I prefer the FIM Pro over the MX32.

Thanks for the reviews. Been a fan Pirelli's for a while now and so jaded by the the new Indonesian Dunlops that seem to crack and break at the knob bases when a little older. tried some of the medium Michies and in the dry worked good but once I hit a damp worn in grass track, I was on my ass like black ice. On the side knob there it just didn't hold. Was on the demo bike and they did wear well though i noticed.

If Dunlop wears too fast.. dont even try Michelin starcross 5 soft or Pirelli MX32.
Loved old Starcross MS3 but new 5 soft isnt really that level and wears fast.
Pirelli Extra goes long way and good on hard dry tracks same as old Michelin MH3.. but
they are not really any good on sand.

Dunlops seem to be good if you're riding strictly moto. I absolutely shredded them off-road and they are not cheap by any means. The right Pirelli for the dirt usually lasts me much longer, and seem to lose its bight more gradually.

Try the medium rear.

Works really well in the soft and the hard and everything in between.

I was really impressed. The soft did wear really quick. But I wouldnt run that again if I had the option of the medium.
