Yeah, we know about the Anderson penalty.

One that wasn't so obvious was both Cooper Webb and Weston Peick lost points (and some purse money) for jumping on the red cross flag during the main event. (Both were in the area where Ken Roczen was down.)

Coop lost five points, and Weston lost four.

The penalties were changed because of last year's race in Detroit, where Dungey was penalized and had a win taken from him.

Here's the new rule about the penalty.

Oh snap... AMA actually dropped the hammer on this? I thought they missed it and it got swept under the rug. Think Matthes said something about Chad not being too happy about it...

Matthes mentioned Webb and Mookie as the doubling culprits (on Monday's show), stating that Reed was unhappy about it. Maybe he got Mookie and Peick mixed up.

Looks like it's based on 9c. No positions gained. Webb 18 pts. down to 13 and Peick 16 down to 12. Position change equivalent (not enforced) would be 4th to 9th and 5th to 10th respectively.

Thank you for the new information.

I have to get some reading glasses. Though the thread is quite informative, it may have been better if it was titled how I read it, "Panties from last weekend". Smile

Take away an entire round from Anderson, dock Webb 5 points and Weston 4....all on a night where we lost Roczen and Bogle.....The way this is shaping up, they might as well just give the championship to Dung and call it a series.

Ouch! Last weekend was not good. It's like chaos and mayhem was released for whatever reason. It's a mystery

In my opinion, if theyre going to be so strict now with the ruling on red cross flag violations, then they need to be a lot more strict on WHEN they pull it out. I would say red cross flags flown at races are not necessary (over a yellow flag) about 80% of the time.

Ennoying for the riders for sure, to lose points but also to have to focus more on other things than their lines and competition, but that is a good point for safety, a crash between a rider and flagers and meds could be so bad.

Ps. Sorry but what happened to Bogle?

I think a technical rhythm section is a time for a red cross flag. You don't want people jumping around that many people on the track around a downed rider.

Other places of the track? Sure.

What about Vince Friese? Or more specific, his mechanic?

What are they thinking?!!! Penalizing someone for doing something that is clearly stated in the rulebook they are not to do... blasphemy!

AMA / FIM called Vince to the trailer trailer to discuss the incident, then told him he was free to go and that they were sorry for wasting his time. Anderson was the aggressor. Been discussed a hundred times. Mechanic or Vince deserve no penalty whatsoever.

And to be clear, the rule is one that is not a competition or promotion-inspired rule, but is purely a track safety regulation.

The penalties for this rule are stupid. Plain and simple.

Agree with them getting penalized for not adhering to the rule though.

Wait, getting a penalty for jumping on a red cross is stupid or the penalty itself(points, postions, fine, etc) is stupid?

I agree. Personally, I don't even like Vince Friese and a huge JA fan but Vince was just trying to ride away and JA was a little to pissed off about the situation. Thing's will move on and next time Anderson will likely do his talking on the race track.
