In northern California, bay area sales tax is 9.5%. I've gone into one dealership and they wanted over $11k otd. I've called several others and they all want you to put down a deposit, and then pay full msrp, freight setup and the whole 9 yards lol. The highest I heard was $11,500 and people are payingthat according to the dealer.

I ain't paying that lol

Do people haggle when buying a new bike, or is it just whatever they list?

I think you have to shop around instead of haggling with a lot of places that want top dollar

The last several 450s I have bought, I got as leftover models from the year before with massive manufacturer rebates. I bought my current bike, 2015 KX450F in August of 2015 for $6450 otd, no tax in Oregon.

Only way imo...although I've bought a few current year models over the years. Paid $4999 otd for my 06 kx450 ....still have it and plenty competitive against the newer bikes for an old guy like me!

I just sold my 2011 for nothing. Regretting selling it. I bought it new. Had 36 hours on it. Having sticker shock on the 2017's. Troy got decide between husky & KTM.

Yeah, but it's kinda difficult to lowball them when they don't have a bike in Stock and won't bring one in without a deposit lol

That work in the states? Around my area there is about $500 of movement on new bikes. Went in to buy one thinking it was like buying a new truck. I was wrong.

I like to contribute to my local economy and I buy several bikes a year for product engineering and testing, so I pay just under MSRP with no freight or set up on the jap products and MSRP plus about 350 on euro product. I know I can buy it cheaper and be a total dick to every shop I call until I get the deal I want but I also know if my customers did that to me I would not be in business any longer. Just think about your job and how you make money to take care of your family and local community and then try treating others ( even motorcycle shops) the way you would want to be treated at your job. Crazy this is such a simple concept, but most Vitards just don't get it.

Yeah, but the only problem with that 2017 rmz is that it's the same as my 2015, which was only slightly different than my 2009 lol

True, but great bargain for someone wanting a new rmz, the 17 is quite a bit different than the 08. The 18 should bring back some rmz fans.

Having owned 2009 and 2015, they aren't a lot different imo.

Of course, the 2015 is a good bike.

I hear what you're saying but if they're willing to let it go for a lower price, that's on them. It doesn't mean the consumer is being a dick, the dealers know they're margins and should know their market before hand

I wanted to do that when I bought my CRF, I get on really well with my local dealer so I went in to see them about buying a new bike and figured if they could get within a couple of hundred pounds of what I could get it from elsewhere then I'd have it off them. Unfortunately they were almost a grand out so I went elsewhere. I'll support a local business over an out of area businesses but only up to a point.

I do however buy all my oils and parts etc from my local dealer though.

It required a deposit before they would order and was going to be 10k OTD. I walked. Riding a Yamaha now and don't regret it.
